Portland News Station Reporting Tampa Bay Close To Signing Oregon Ducks Head Coach Chip Kelly
According Portland television station KGW, Oregon Ducks head coach Chip Kelly is "close to signing a deal with the NFL." The Tampa Bay Times has since confirmed. From KGW-TV:
Kelly is reportedly in the process of finalizing a deal that would make him the head coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. A source close to the situation told KGW Kelly will make the jump to the NFL if he can come to terms on a contract.
If this report turns out to be true, then Zimmer would find himself with only one team that's expressed any level of interest. Though the Indianapolis Colts' interest appears exploratory on Indianapolis' part, perhaps in part that Zimmer was a candidate for three open head coaching positions this offseason.
Without a head coaching job offered to him, it's likely that Mike Zimmer would stay for the final year of his existing contract.
The next question is, what of Kevin Coyle, who drew interest as Miami's vacant defensive coordinator spot earlier this weekend.

Just my opinion
But I think this just set the Bucs back. Can’t run the no huddle every series in the NFL. You will get your whole offensive side of the ball hurt.

Kelly is an innovative guy.
He should be able to create a new system for the NFL.
Oh really?
Create a new system for the NFL, huh? Buddy the NFL isn’t accounting. You can’t just fix shit to make you balance out. I don’t think he has any NFL experience whatsoever. Not to mention, in the NFL you can’t just go out and get the talent you want all the time. I thought Saban translated to the NFL better than anybody could. Guess what? The man hated it. Hated it.

I wouldn't want him.
But I’m glad they’re getting him. One less team in the Zimmer sweepstakes. L:)

Ya. Now we just gotta worry about the Colts. What are the chances he gets hired there?

Still
Indy is the only team where I could feel genuinely happy for him. Dolphins and Raiders would be a nightmare to work for and the Bucs are a mess. Indy has a legit chance at the Super Bowl next year.
Indy doesn't have a coaching staff in place right now
And have questions across the board and they have a legit chance to go to the Super Bowl? Come on. The talent they have a D in Cincy is for a Tampa 2 D. The Texans will be the class of that division for a while.

The talent they have on D is built for a Tampa 2 scheme**

Great move by Tampa Bay
dude’s a winner, just like Jim Harbaugh.
Attention Mike Brown: One-and-done doesn’t cut it. You will see more empty seats next year if you don’t show the fans you’re trying to win the Super Bowl!

As I said earlier...
This reeks of a GET OUT OF DODGE play by Kelly just like Pete with USC.

Heard same thing on Mike & Mike this morning on ESPN radio......
they reported “his heart was still at Oregon” and he was staying put.
