Question from a Jags fan
First off congragulations on your season this year. Making the playoffs with a rookie QB is an accomplishment and it seems that with your young defense, QB and WR you have the Bengals are going to be a force to be reckoned with in the AFC if not the entire nfl for a long time.
but i have a question for any bengal fans that would care to respond and its just out of my own curiosity. The jags are sitting at number 7 in this years draft and not really liking what we are seeing(atleast the fans). It looks like either Coples or one of the OT on the board are probably the most likely of our picks so understandably with all our our needs on offense(WR!!!) many people are talking about potentially trading down and acquiring more picks
I see no team liking anybody that would be available at 7 other than the bengals. so i post this question
How likely do you think it would be for the Bengals to trade(or be willing to trade) both their first round picks and a later round pick(4th or 5th) to move up to #7 to select trent richardson?
the bengals offense with Andy Dalton, AJ and TRich looks like a pretty good core but im just wondering what your perspective is on this scenario? would the team even consider it? would the fans love or hate it? just looking for some general insite.
but anyways thanks and good luck with the upcoming draft and offseason
Sam I.

I doubt it, Mike Brown Barely trades up to get a RB
and besides the Bengals have more issues to address on the Defensive side and the O-line so i dont see the Bengals trading up
And Richardson is a one of a kind
but this draft is deep with good RBs so I don’t see it happening either.

So I'll give two answers here:
1) Speaking for myself, I would not like to see them do this – we have some major needs (RB, OG, CB and S) and we’ve always had a tough time landing quality free agents. Two first round picks would presumably let us fill two of those needs. While I would love to have Richardson, at this point I’d rather have two top players.
2) Speaking about how I think the Bengals organization would approach this, I don’t think that they would make this move. First there is an outside chance (very small) that Richardson falls to us anyway. If he doesn’t there’s a chance that DeCastro does, who would also address a major need. But the real reason is this… that pick at 17 is what we got for Palmer. We lost him and get two picks in the first this year and that’s why everyone got all slobbery on Mike Brown’s junk. I don’t think he’ll bundle that hard-won pick as part of a trade. As weird as it sounds, I think the Bengals organization is married to that pick.
Sorry to crush your dreams, but I highly doubt the Bengals trade up.
This is a deep draft for RBs, and they have huge talent gaps at G, CB and S right now. They need those high picks.

not.
mike brown trades away draft picks (1st to 4th round) like they were currency. IE: you’ll have to pry them out of his cold dead hands.
marvin and katie would have to hold a gun to mike brown to get him to trade those two 1st round picks to the jags for MJD
"the bengals are not a west of the 104 longitude team."
yes it would
however, think we can all agree, brown would have to be forced into trading his two 1st round picks for MJD
"the bengals are not a west of the 104 longitude team."
youd have to give up more than that
that guy breaks 5 tackles before he gets out of the locker room lol

Why in the hell...
Would we trade our 2 first round picks for a running back going into his 7th year already with 1500 career carries…coming off a rushing title and league leader in attempts
My guess…Jax gets a call like that and thinks Christmas came early with the early and sudden downfall of NFL running backs
because he's a future hall of famer with at least a few years of domination left?
and we’ve got nobody worth half a fart?
haha settle down
it was just a joke and i doubt the jags would even consider that deal. hes a top 5 position player in the nfl you cant replace his type of talent

Sorry, Richardson's good but not worth two 1st round picks...
especially since it’s at least 50/50 he falls to 17, and it’s a deep RB draft class in 2012.
How much of a chance? Exactly this: 0.0
The Bengals have traded up twice in their entire franchise history. This year they have a boatload of picks, but I don’t see them burning a bunch of them on one guy. There just isn’t anyone in the draft good enough for 3 picks, including 2 firsts. Maybe a desperate team would do that for Luck or Griffin, but otherwise I don’t see it.
Not going to happen
If Gruden absolutely fell in love with Richardson and told management he HAD to have him, there might be a very very very remote chance of trading both first round picks to go up into the top 10. But we certainly wouldn’t be adding any other picks on top of it. But with the depth at RB in this draft, I would think even in that scenario we would wait to see if he fell out of the top 10 and then start talking to teams like Philly and Dallas about trading up 2-3 spots for a much cheaper price rather than jumping up 10 spots. If he’s gone, we’ll go with Miller or Polk or someone in the 2nd round. Don’t get your hopes up.
My Thoughts
Barron SS pick number 17 and best OG available at 21 if cant get Barron best available DB i think our OL and Db’s are our biggest priority in the draft and there will be enough good RB in later rounds and FA as with number 2 reciever get Colston orMeachum in FA and get one with one of our 2 fifth round pics basically boils down to we have a lot of pics this year i just dont see us trading up to 7
why would you pick...with your highest pick of the draft
A player similar to the likes of Taylor Mays and Robert Sands. If we do that I’ll be pissed.
What do you do when there's no way out? Find a way to get deeper in it.

I agree
I would rather re-sign Nelson and then give Mays and Sands a year , to see if they are the answer. If not, there are 6 safties that are coming out next year that are hands down better than Barron

My Opinion
The best Bengals teams have had a good SS and if you look at the other defenses in our division like Pitt and Balt. have them now not saying Barron is in there class maybe we do not need him and Mays and Sands are the answer all I know is our defensive backs are our weakness on defense and i feel we need a SS that is an animal who can play every down it is just my opinion not that the coaching staff is going to react to any of our opinion’s. CHEERS P.S. I live in Key West and have very limited access to what goes on with the Bengals, only what I get from you guys and i do get a lot from you guys.I haven’t seen the Bengals play a game since i saw the Brady and Moss show on Monday night in 07 and i do get to watch NFL rewind just to get a Bengal fix.I hoped that they would be playing the Dolphins in Miami next season but since it will be at PBS maybe in 2013
their fans seem to be optimistic about bratt
hope it works out for them, think most cincy fans feel the jags are in for nothing but heartbreak to come.

poor saps

First: I'm sorry
you know about the whole Brat thing.
Second: I dont see that happening basically for all the reasons these guys have said.

No WAY!
Theirs a possibility that Richardson could fall to 17 and even if he doesn’t the draft is full of good RB’s. No one in this draft is worth 2 1st round and a later pick. I can’t stop laughing at the thought of anyone making that deal. Carson is that you?

Bengals trade up?
What is this “trading up” term you speak of? We, fans of a Mike Brown organization, don’t understand what this means lol

when a scouting department really loves a player
and…
wait, what in the hell is a scouting department? anyone familiar with that term either?
"the bengals are not a west of the 104 longitude team."
In Mike Brown's personal dictionary it says
Scouting Department: Any family member, preferably without football knowledge, who I can convince to go watch the young college kids practice and play, and who will then write names on slips of paper for me to draw out of a hat.

Cold Blooded
and to you
Lots of us here like the Jags hope for good things down there. Unless we’re playing, of course. :)
Hey now,
Let’s not be mean to the jaguars fan, there’s not many out there ;). But on a serious note, I hope the Jags have a good season, I’ve made it known that I liked Garrard when he was on your team. But in all honestly, i hope Gabbert works out for you, I don’t wanna be mean but all you guys have going for you on offense is MJD, but if not for Daltons rapid growth, that couldve been us easily.
A.J. Green is Optimus Prime. Sit down Calvin Johnson, the good guys always win...
