Mock Draft 1.0

I have never posted any fanpost before but i thought i would give it a shot, and give you what my mock draft looks like right now.

Round 1

1a. Dre Kirkpatrick, CB, Alabama

1b. Peter Konz, C, Wisconsin

I like Konz more then Cordy Glenn because he can play both guard and center which would help the line if cook would go down.

Round 2

Doug Martin, RB, Boise State

We need a new RB and i think he could be a great pick up, since he looks a little like Ray Rice. I also like pead here if Doug Martin is gone.

Round 3

Antonio Allen, S, South Carolina

We need to upgrade the safety position after what chris showed what he had left in the playoffs.

Star-divide

Round 4

Juron Criner, WR, Arizona

He provides the ability to stretch the field like a number 2 receiver. He is big, fast, redzone target, and has the ability to get jump balls.

Round 5

5a. Chris Rainey, WR/RB/KR/PR, Florida

We need a wr, rb, and a returner, which rainey can fill each spot to a certain degree. I like rainy because we need to upgrade the return game, but he comes with benefits of replacing scott as the change of pace back, and he can go out wide and be a very effective receiver with his speed.

5b. Delvin Johnson, DT/NT, Marshall

We need depth at dt if we lose simms. He had 10.5 tackles for lost last year, which shows he could help against the run.

Round 6
Antoine McClain, G, Clemson

This pick is for depth but he is a big guard that is a good run blocker and a decent pass blocker.

Round 7

Jerrell Young, FS, South Florida

He is raw, but he could just add competition in the race for a stop on the team. He is good against the run.

Please leave comments of what you think i take criticism very well, so you don't have to be nice about it. Thanks for looking at my thought of how the draft should go.

I like it

I like the Criner pick. By all accounts he was really impressing in practices.
Love the Rainey pick but wonder if he will be there that late.
Antonio Allen I haven’t heard much about, but I wonder how he compares to Harrison Smith, who I’ve heard is also impressing. Is 5b around where Wolfe would go? I don’t know much about Johnson or Wolfe (besides what people have mentioned of Wolfe here) but I have watched a few videos (not highlights) and as people say he has a motor that doesn’t quit.

Like all the other picks too.

Wolfe

i heard wolfe would go around the 3rd-4th round. And i wouldn’t mind if they had to trade up to get both rainey and criner since i see them both contributing early. I don’t know much about the safety’s so i don’t know who would be better i just here Antonio Allens name more.

Rainey was considered a 6th-7th round pick before this week. He showed be can play WR so that really helps, but he almost offers nothing at RB. He’s still probably a 5th – 6th right now. If he runs a 4.2 like some say, he could rise slightly more. Into 4th round.

I like all the players,

but I just have a feeling we aren’t going to target interior linemen before 3rd round if at all. With Boling getting his first offseason, and OtisHudson being the most improved player last year I think they will sign a FA (probably Bobbie Williams) and let Boling probably start at LG and Hudson might challenge Bobbie for RG spot. I like Konz, I just don’t see the team going after interior line that early.

I REALLY like Doug Martin, but I am thinking there is a chance he will be gone in the 2nd. I’m thinkin he will improve his stock by a fair amount pre-draft and I wouldn’t be completely shocked to see him go as our 2nd first round pick. I am not a draft guy, though (I enjoy it, just don’t really grade people myself), so anything and everything I just said here could be completely wrong. :)

As for Derek Wolfe I’m guessing he’d probably be a 3rd or 4th round pick. I would definitely like to have him.

The reason

i went with konz early is because you never no how FA is going to turn out, or if bobbie retires. Konz also adds backup to the center position. I understand that the rb position is hard to tell where everyones grade is in the draft, but a lot of people have wilson, polk, miller, and trent all ahead of him in the draft. Everyones draft grade will rise/lower the father it gets into the offseason.

I thought it totally sucked

Not really – but everybody else just seemed too nice

Agree with the top 3 picks

I dont care about the rest of the picks as long as the Bengals can get Doug Martin in the 2nd and a CB in the first.

I like the Konz pick b/c right now there is no back up for Cook

They tried to work Boling in there but we’ve seen he is a natural LG and isn’t good at moving around. Having a guy who could start at guard and slide over to play C would be a huge plus.

From the recent mock drafts I have seen, I don’t think Criner will be there that late. His stock is rising fast and with Wright’s injury there isn’t clearly a #2 WR behind Blackmon. I think Criner could very well sneak into the 2nd round.

I like the Martin pick and would prefer him to other RBs being bounced around. I just worry a little about the wear and tear on him. He has played a lot at Boise over the last 4 years. What sets him apart for me from Polk is that Martin seems to have a burst into the hole that Polk doesn’t show.

Love the Konz pick

He’s so much like Mike Pouncey a C who should be playing G. Juron Criner wow is this kid overhyped no thanks A.J Jenkins Ryan Broyles or Eric Page if we must pick a 4th round WR

Well done

I really like the first three picks. I just can’t wait for the draft. I’m in NY and plan on attending, so look for an AJ Green jersey and that might be me. Until then, I always enjoy a good mock

Kudos.

I could totally live with this draft.

I like the mock draft.

From the games that I have seen Martin play, I think he could make a good RB on our team. One positive I have seen in his game is he is always powering through tackles by lowering his body and leaning forward, which I love to see in a RB.

so you mean

the exact opposite of Cedric – can’t break tackles – Benson?

would be a great draft

The only thing I would change is a backup tackle instead of saftey or guard. With Collins leaving that’s a bigger need I think.

I'd switch pick 3 and 4, Criner won't be there in the 4th.

What do you do when there's no way out? Find a way to get deeper in it.
