Bengals QB Andy Dalton To Practice Thursday

CINCINNATI, OH - JANUARY 01: Andy Dalton #14 of the Cincinnati Bengals runs with the ball during the NFL game against the Baltimore Ravens at Paul Brown Stadium on January 1, 2012 in Cincinnati, Ohio. (Photo by Andy Lyons/Getty Images)

On Wednesday it was reported that Bengals rookie quarterback Andy Dalton sat out of the Bengals practice due to what Joe Reedy called an intestinal virus. According to Bengals.com's Geoff Hobson, Dalton says he will be back at practice today and that he's feeling fine.

This is obviously very good news. I don't think anybody expected this illness to sideline Dalton for very long but it's nerve-racking to see any team's quarterback on the injury report heading into the playoffs. The Bengals have a chance to win their first playoff game in two decades on Saturday afternoon on Houston against the Texans and Dalton is the biggest piece of the puzzle. Hopefully missing that one day of practice has little to no effect on Dalton's ability to prepare for the biggest game of his career to this point.

Stay tuned tonight for both the Bengals' and the Texans' full Thursday practice reports.

To WC. I miss JTM’s soy bean burgers at their best. Grippos bbq are the shit. I have a friend bringing me some Saturday. One good thing that we have here that’s not up north is Whataburger.

+ 1

No place like home. I don’t think I’ve had any chip that compares to Grippos bbq. Every time I go home as soon as I’m off the plane I grab a bag, an ale8one, and some smokes. All for under $10.

by Bigcatdaddy on Jan 5, 2012 12:06 PM EST via Android app up reply actions

Haha

I have buddy who visits me every few months and always buys the big box of grippos from kroger … I agree nothing compares to Grippos or Ale8one

AD to AJ = TD!!

Mike and Mike were spent most of this morning talking about the Squeelers matchup....

and when they got to Cincy just said “This is the least sexiest matchup because no one believes either of these two stand a chance to advance past the next round.” Fired me up and it takes a lot at 6am to do that………

Can the Bengals beat the Packers? Probably not. The Saints? Maybe.

Everyone else? I’d give em 60/40 odds.

Had 1 or 2 plays gone their way, they could have beat the Ravens twice and they could have beat teh 49ers, Broncos, and Texans. Maybe the Steelers in that first game.

Just b/c they’ve gotten close but never pulled one out against a playoff team this year doesn’t mean they are incapable of doing so. And just b/c the Texans had a huge drive to beat the Bengals doesn’t mean they can do it again.

We will be playing the 49ers in the SB.

i think it was yesterday i was watching scott van pelt show

and they were saying do we even have to watch this game. they were just trashing this game, and comparing it to march madness 8 or 9 seed playing and no one wants to watch it. I know it pissed me off when they said that.

Rodney Harrison is a big hater

He had to pick Yates or Dalton for which one he would feel more comfortable with leading his team in the playoffs. Of course he picked Yates. The other guy said Dalton cause he has faced better D’s. Rodney said he couldn’t beat any of them that’s why he picked Yates. Yates couldn’t beat Pitt or Balt on his best day so that made no scents to me.

I hope it does affect Dalton ...

And puts an even bigger chip on his shoulder to play lights out! I’m going to the game and I wanna see Texans fans (unhappily) streaming for the exits by the early 4th quarter! LET’S GOOOO!!!

by Israeli on Jan 5, 2012 11:34 AM EST reply actions

I'd give Bengals 50% chance to beat Texans

Depending on the injury report of course, but even though the Bengals have played well on the road and to Dalton Houston is almost a home game, it is the Texans 1st EVER playoff game played at home so that has to count for a lot. The defenses are both good, it is a matter of which offense can put together some touchdown drives and keep the turnovers to minimum. I’ll be routing for the Bengals, some other analysts are picking them but they can’t be favored by any logical analysis.

The Dalton

Almost a home game, needs to be dead. The Reliant crowd will not be hushing when Dalton takes the field.

really

do you realize that Dalton has won 2 more games at Reliant than Yates….and thats not significant to you….uh ok….lost twice at home….Panthers, Titans….jus sayin

also

all the offensive stats that Yates is getting credit for is mostly from Schaub….give me just Yates stats….then we will talk…..

949 total yards….3 picks, 3 tds, and 5 fumbles in 5 starts…1 game he came in later…..come on man

Just sayin

There is a huge difference between a high school crowd, and an sold out NFL crowd.

I’ve been to high school championships in the building, I’ve been to the bowl game they host. Those are not even close to when USA played Mexico, or when Barcelona played. All those moments in Reliant don’t hold a candle to when the Texans play.

If Atlanta had any indicator of how loud that place can be, I can’t imagine how loud it will be this weekend.

It's not going to be silent for Yates either

Theirs going to be quite a few Bengal fans in the house Saturday. I’ve been searching around for people going and have found a lot. Bringing the Jungle rumble to Houston. WHO DEY!

The Thing that Worries Me the Most

The stomach virus Dalton had will sweep through the team. If it is the same thing PDoc had, then it must be 12 hours of living hell. I’m afraid we might be missing a few players if it hits them Friday night into Saturday.

by AWC71 on Jan 5, 2012 4:04 PM EST reply actions

I think this is the best possible draw for the Bengals in the 1st round

Dalton is familiar with the stadium, regardless of the level of game he played there. The Bengals have proven they can play with the Texans, which means they can beat the Texans. And the Texans have a banged up Yates, facing the Bengals pass rush. There likely will be a Jake Delhomme sighting, which excites me b/c that could mean 5 Bengals picks.
