My first reaction is No, but I have kind of a Yessy aftertaste
In all fairness, I like the ideal of having the talent in the secondary, but we really need help on our O-line. I think we played poorly down the stretch as an offense mainly because we couldn’t run the ball. Imagine if Dalton had the kind of O-line and rushing attack that Houston just gashed us with last night, we would be unstoppable. We need to support both those weaknesses, OL and our Defensive backfield. But that’s just me
Obviously, if Kirkpatrick falls to us, we take him
But taking Jenkins next is unnecessary considering we will be getting Leo back next year. We have to take a solid OL within the first two rounds. IMO the draft has to go like this:
In the first round, take best available CB and OL. In second, take CB or OL if there still is a solid option available or pickup Lamar Miller at RB but that is the only RB I would take that early.
Am not looking quite that extreme, but check out the mock I put up. Want CB/S help also....

I didn't read your post.....
because I like paragraphs, but I will say this…..our draft strategy should be a well thought out thing that takes into account what we THINK we can do via free agency.
ok good thinking...
with solidifying a position with the draft picks in the first round… I would also consider doing that same thinking with the O-Line… DeCastro and Konz with the #1 picks… San Fran did that 2 (?) years ago with the guard-tackle combo and proved to work there too….
I would take OL/DB
but it could be CB, S, OG, or even a CENTER (Cook could move to guard)

was a rams fan that tossed that isea out as mays for an olb
did in the bengals game thread on TST. i know the bears had interest in mays as a LB project as well.

who knows
he was 6’3 and 230 in college. as he gets a couple of years older, he’ll probably be 235-240 playing weight. he is a big safety. wouldn’t be a big lb nor would he be a small one.

yea i know hes huge and fast
But playing a linebacker that close might be way to much for him to pick up. Now sending him like they do crocker and nelson could be great.

I wouldnt hate it
I think we can get another corner later who can play though. Asa Jackson or johnathan banks. Then we can solidify our line by taking kontz or another guard. Kirkpatrick, kontz, banks, and running back in the 3rd. Would be a great draft

robert sands???...what's his deal
No one every mention this guy. Think he’s not catching onto zimmer scheme or marvin holding him out. I was excited to see him and moch get their feet wet this yr. More so moch but im guess his migraines have held him out.
5th round pick
With limited coverage skills, nothing special.

Fill As Many Needs via FA
In my eyes the Bengals a quite a few needs.
Offensive guard
Safety
Cornerback
2nd WR
One, maybe two running backs
OLB if Lawson isn’t re-signed.
The Bengals need to use free agency to fill as many of these holes as possible. They will have the cap room and if you want to improve the team you need to add guys that you know what they will give you. Plus, even with two first round picks, the Bengals simply have too many holes to fill in the draft.
One More Thing
Because of the lockout I think there are going to be a ton of players that signed one year deals this past offseason.
They have 3 ways to go.
1. Take the defense to top 10 status with a draft heavy on dline and secondary.
Could use a pass rusher off the edge. Could use a clone of Pat Sims in the middle, in addition to Sims. Could use a CB and FS in the secondary. This could mean the first 4 picks are all defense. Chances of getting a really good player in FA for DE is slight and the same for CB. DT and FS can be filled in FA.
2. Take the offense to top 10 status with a draft heavy on the offense. Draft a top rated RB and WR in round 1, then build the Oline in the 2ed and 3rd rounds. Guards better than Livings and Williams can be had in FA though.
3. Split it. Use the first 4 picks 50-50. For instance, get a DE/DT and CB in round 1 and RB and OG in round 2 and 3.
Given how badly both lines played since the end of November, they have to use high picks to improve those positions.
