Although not solely responsible for the drastic improvement on defense this week, I think everyone bashing this guy needs to give some credit where credit is due. Sure, I never thought he was the highest of quality safeties, HOWEVER, he is a heady player who can has "done it" so many times that very little processing needs to take place. He is a player who can call out assignments as offensive motion occurs pre-snap. This is something that the MLB can only do with hand motions, and only if he recognizes what is going on. It is my opinion that this is part of the reason for success this week. I believe that this success will continue and we will see improved productivity from the front 7 and the db's alike. Bottom line...Crocker will stabilize the defense and keep us in many more games than not. At the very least he will allow us to keep it in front of us, eliminating many of the big play gaffs that we have seen this season already.
Plus...you have to at least admit he has the first and only interception of the season. Can't be all bad. And did you notice that Nelson was freed up to be MUCH more aggressive. I like what I saw and can attribute a noticeable amount to Crocker's signing.
