Did Bengals Quarterback Andy Dalton Have The Best Performance Of Week Ten?

John Grieshop

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton played well against the New York Giants. What could be viewed as a career-game, Dalton may have had the best performance in the NFL last week.

Against the New York Giants on Sunday, Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton posted a career-high four touchdowns, completed over 70 percent of his passes and generated a passer rating of 127.6. And under the file of personal milestone, Dalton didn't throw an interception for the first time since Week 17 last year against the Baltimore Ravens; that's a string of nine straight games with a pick, including the team's 31-10 wild card loss to the Houston Texans.

The performance justifiably earned Dalton a nomination for FedEx Air Player of the Week and he's going to be a serious nominee for AFC Offensive Player of the Week on Wednesday. Additionally Dalton scored the highest Total QBR (remember that?) in the league, with a 94.8 -- which is the 100th-best game dating back to 2008. Maybe on the surface that doesn't sound that great. Trust me. All of the games played in the NFL with some of the best quarterbacks of all-time, even future Hall of Famers, it is.

NFL.com compared Dalton's game against the Giants to Drew Brees games against Atlanta, who handed the Falcons their first loss this season. It's a weekly feature that Dalton is finally being included in. When asked who had the best game, Daniel Jeremiah with NFL.com wrote:

Brees was fantastic in the Saints' big win, but I thought Dalton had an even better performance. His yardage total wasn't very impressive, but he was incredibly efficient, and tossed one more touchdown pass than the Saints quarterback. Dalton also avoided turning the ball over despite playing against an aggressive defense. His performance has put the Bengals right back into the playoff mix.

I can buy that.
