Wednesday Injury Update: Reports Say Cassel To Start At Quarterback For Chiefs

On Tuesday, it looked as if Brady Quinn would be healthy enough to get his second start of the season for the Chiefs. According to multiple reports, Matt Cassel will once again get the start at quarterback against the Bengals.

If you paid attention to Cincy Jungle yesterday (and wouldn't you have been), you would have seen a piece noting that Kansas City Chiefs quarterback, Brady Quinn, was feeling better and could suit up this Sunday against the Bengals. Quinn suffered a concussion a couple of weeks back against the Oakland Raiders and has been experiencing some issues since. He came out and told the media on Tuesday that he felt better, but the team isn't taking any chances.

According to multiple reports, Matt Cassel will be the Chiefs' starting quarterback this Sunday against Cincinnati. Of the move, Kansas City head coach Romeo Crennel said (via ESPN):

"Brady does feel better. I'm glad he's feeling better. But he hasn't been cleared to play yet," Chiefs coach Romeo Crennel said during what's become a weekly Wednesday ritual of addressing the QB spot. "I can't take the chance on practicing the guy and not having him ready."

"He's feeling a lot better, doing a lot better," Crennel said. "He went to the doctor and he told him he's doing a lot better. The doctor also told him he was going to monitor him this week, and if he makes it through this week without incident, he could be cleared for the weekend. But he's got to make it through the week."

It sounds as if this decision could be a tentative one, given Crennel's comments, so we'll have to see if the Chiefs pull a late-week "switcharoo" on the Bengals. But, for now, we should plan on seeing Cassel behind center on Sunday.
