Bengals captains joined Kansas City Chiefs fans at midfield, calling tails, winning the coin toss and electing defer to the second half. The Chiefs will receive the opening kickoff with the Bengals on defense. The Bengals captains are Andre Smith, Andy Dalton, Rey Maualuga, Leon Hall and Brian Leonard.
After returning the opening kickoff to the Chiefs 24-yard line, Jamaal Charles combined two runs for seven yards to the 31-yard line, setting up a third down, which floated out of Matt Cassel's hands harmlessly to the turf. Three and out and the Chiefs punt the football.
