The Cincinnati Bengals Player Power Rankings is a weekly ranking system that not only figures the best players on the team, but the players playing the best. Despite being out of their control, injuries and inactives are huge hits largely because they're not contributing. This week, we see a 4th offensive lineman enter the top 12 players and two more rookies get close to entering the top 20.

Brandon Flowers is actually a good CB. You wouldn't know by watching that game. |
|
2 |
Geno Atkins |
2 |
-- |
Such a dominant performance by the best DT in the NFL. It's great to have the best WR and the best DT, and that's not homerism talking. |
|
3 |
Andre Smith |
4 |
-- |
Justin Houston has been Kansas City's best pass rusher. Did you hear his name once last week? Smith is a complete player. |
|
4 |
Leon Hall |
3 |
-- |
I figured Hall would have his hands full with Dexter McCluster in the slot. Not a chance. This may be Hall's best season in coverage. |
|
5 |
Andy Dalton |
5 |
-- |
Dalton is in the middle of his best stretch of his career. |
|
6 |
Kevin Zeitler |
7 |
+1 |
This wasn't Zeitler's best game of the season at all, but he had enough "wow" blocks to make me forget about a few stumbles. |
|
7 |
Andrew Whitworth |
6 |
-1 |
He's not even an OK run blocker. With Faine benched, Whit is now the worst run blocker amongst the starters. |
|
8 |
Adam Jones |
8 |
+1 |
This is the best season of Pacman's career. He's much more than an athlete now. |
|
9 |
Jermaine Gresham |
10 |
+2 |
Hopefully Gresham realizes that when he Hulks-out, he's a much better player. |
|
10 |
Carlos Dunlap |
8 |
-2 |
I found it so strange that Dunlap has flashed more against the run than he has as a pass rusher this year. |
|
11 |
Clint Boling |
13 |
+2 |
This was one of Boling's best games of the season. He's a fine NFL guard. Probably a top 15 player at the position in the league. |
|
12 |
Michael Johnson |
11 |
-1 |
He's been leaving us wanting more the last few weeks. They need to find a way to get him going again. |
|
13 |
Vontaze Burfict |
14 |
+1 |
Burfict has one of his better games last week. I don't think he missed a tackle and was only really beat up the seam by Moeaki once. |
|
14 |
Andrew Hawkins |
12 |
-2 |
Hawkins sat with an injured knee and wasn't missed as Mohamed Sanu took his slot snaps. |
|
15 |
Terence Newman |
18 |
+3 |
Newman has played three straight good games. Put some competition (Kirkpatrick) behind him and watch him go. |
|
16 |
Reggie Nelson |
15 |
-1 |
This isn't a good look for Nelson. The Bengals defense seems more sound and smarter without him. They'll need his athleticism eventually but maybe he'll rotate more. |
|
17 |
Mike Nugent |
16 |
-1 |
He had a poor kickoff day and missed a 50-yard kick. |
|
18 |
Domata Peko |
17 |
-1 |
Peko had a good game, but made little impact. That's saying something. |
|
19 |
Nate Clements |
19 |
-- |
He's been steadily progressing as a safety; especially against the run. |
|
20 |
Rey Maualuga |
20 |
-- |
He's holding his head above water lately. Three missed tackles where he was just out-athleted by Jamaal Charles almost lost his spot on this list. |
Just Missed the Cut: BenJarvus Green-Ellis, Mohamed Sanu, Kevin Huber, Cedric Peerman, Trevor Robinson, Pat Sims
