Bengals assistant defensive backs coach Hue Jackson was asked about reports placing him on a short list of candidates for the Cal head coaching job, vacated after the University fired long-time head coach Jeff Tedford earlier this week. Predictably he had no comment right now, which is generally expected during similar situations. When asked about his future, Jackson said:
"At this time what’s intriguing is beating the Oakland Raiders. That’s the only thing I can think about at this point."
A CBS affiliate in San Francisco claims that Jackson isn't just a candidate, he's the leading one.
Sources told CBS 5 Tuesday that former Raiders Head Coach Hue Jackson was a leading candidate to replace Tedford.
Other rumored candidates include (per SB Nation):
Boise State's Chris Petersen; San Jose State's Mike MacIntyre; former Stanford assistant and current 49ers offensive coordinator Greg Roman; Cincinnati Bengal assistant Hue Jackson; Louisiana Tech's Sonny Dykes; Utah State's Gary Andersen; Western Kentucky's Willie Taggart and Fresno State's Tim DeRuyter.
