Carson Palmer In The Fourth Quarter

We offered this up earlier on Twitter (follow us @CincyJungle) but wanted to emphasize it here also. Carson Palmer has generated an impressive 1,067 yards passing in the last three games, including a 414-yard effort against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

However we pointed out this little bit too.

In the last three games, the Raiders have entered the fourth quarter down by 74 points combined. Traditionally opposing defenses allow more receptions, using a preventative philosophy that avoids big plays and quick scores. That is where 32.4 percent of Palmer's passing yardage has come from during the past three games.

This is actually consistent of the entire season where 32 percent of Palmer's 3,035 yards have come in the fourth. We would point out that 73.5 percent of Palmer's passing yards has also come when the Raiders were losing this year, but they've lost seven games so we're not sure if that's a fair statistic in this context.

Furthermore, two of those passing defenses are ranked No. 31 and No. 32 in the NFL -- the New Orleans Saints and Tampa Bay Buccaneers respectively. The Ravens? They're an uncharacteristic 23rd passing defense.
