Awhile back we were able to have a political thread and keep it civil... I'm hoping today we can do the same.
So who are you voting for and why? For whatever reason Ohio seems to be "The Only State That Matters", so I hope all of you are voting, and putting at least the same thought into your vote as you put into who should be our next draft pick. :)
Here are my reasons for my vote:
I am voting Democrat because I believe in our rights as Americans. I believe that voting, health care and education should be a right for all and not a privilege for the few. I believe that the rights of our corporations should never come before the rights of our people. I believe that those born into poverty and difficult circumstances have the right to the same opportunities as those born into prosperity. I believe that we have the right to follow our own beliefs, but not to impose them on others, as they have the right to think differently. Most importantly I believe that all people-- no matter where they come from, what they look like, who they pray to, or who they love-- are all equally American, and deserve the same rights, freedoms and opportunities as anyone else.
I am voting for President Obama because his accomplishments over the last four years have benefited all Americans. He turned around a flailing economy by passing a stimulus and auto industry rescue that were deeply unpopular but vitally necessary. He passed health care reform that has been a century in the making so that our health isn't dependent on the profit margins of insurance companies. He reformed the financial sector with new laws on credit cards, Wall Street and student loans. He ended the war in Iraq, ended Bin Laden, and stood up for our veterans by allowing them to live openly while they risk our lives for our country and providing them with new opportunities once they come home. He passed the women's fair pay act, fought to defend medicare and social security, and stood up for kids who were brought to this country through no fault of their own. I am voting for President Obama because our country is better off now than it was four years ago, and I believe he has earned the opportunity to finish the job he started.
