I know its early looking at the draft, also cant wait for Sunday!! We are going to put a good beating to them Steelers!!
Okay, now on to what I was going to do, Mocking the Draft and Mocking a Draft for the Bengals!!
After doing a lot of research and taking a lot of Finals for the Fall Semester at CSU-Fresno aka Fresno State, I have decided to put in some scenarios into this thinking
Assuming: The Bengals is able to Re-sign Andre Smith and Michael Johnson back on to the team
Bengals FA
Bengals FA who we should re-sign
Bruce Gradkowski - 2 year deal, I wouldnt give him much but I dont see a good back-up QB in this year's draft at the moment so rather have the Vet as the back-up as for now
Cedric Peerman -2 year deal, Peerman can chip in from time to time to give us a boost and is a very great special teams player for us, but this all really depends how Dan "Boom" Herron closes out the season both on offense and ST.
Andrew Hawkins - 3 year deal, I would give Hawkins a few more years with the Bengals, the guy can play, he is one of our best play maker outside of AJ Green, I think he has just locked himself up with the Bengals if he can just keep producing.
Clark Harris - 2 year deal, LS Special Teams Player and the Special has been great so far this season
Mike Nugent/Josh Brown/ Kevin Huber - 3 year deal, Depends on who you think is better, I think that Nugent is better but either one is fine unless we keep both of them and as for Punter I would like Huber to be more electrifying, but he has done a solid job, I think he can do better though.
Robert Geathers - 1 or 2 year deal, Geathers have been a solid player for us for years, this guy is a true team player, set the edge and plays smart DE it's not about stats for the guy, but I would give him the Vet league minimum, if anything happens but I would say if we get a D-line player in the draft his time is probably over begin a Bengal. (Big Iffy)
Wallace Gilberry - 2 year deal, Somewhat a great pick-up in the mid-season with Jamaal Anderson being out for the year, this guy can flat out play and is very good in our D-line Rotation with the rest of the D-line
Pat Sims - 2 year deal, This is somewhat of a gutsy call, I think that Sims is a big piece of our Defense and Run Defense, I know that he dont have much to show on the stats sheet but he is always taking on 2 O-Linemen which frees up our LB to get to the RB, I bring him back.
Thomas Howard/ Rey Maualuga/ Dan Skuta - 2-3 year Deal, I would bring these LB's back, having that said the LB would be much more experience and stable, Howard is a beast when is healthy, and can be on the field for almost all of the snaps, Maualuga has been having a up and down year, so far, but if you look at the times while he was here, he has had a lot of Veteran Leadership help, Dhani Jones and Thomas Howard, I think that is why sometimes he plays great, but sometimes I think he struggle is because he thinks too much and dont react fast enough to the play, as for Skuta I think he's a good back-up who can contribute to ST and also play all 3 spots on the LB corp which would help the team a lot.
Terence Newman/Adam Jones/ Chris Crocker/ Jeromy Miles- 2-3 year deal, I would love for Clements to come back but I think he's way past his prime and he dont have the speed like he used to, but he's a smart player for sure, So I decided to go with Newman, Jones, Crocker and Miles as the DB's we should re-sign I believe that it would be great for them to come back to add some depth for the Bengals Newman and Jones have been playing pretty good, and also Jones can do a lot of damage in the Punt Return game. As for Crocker the guy is a smart solid player who has helped our D a lot and coming up with a lot of INT's, Miles is still one of our better ST player on the team.
Make some offer in FA (Not to give them a huge contract, but a smart contract)
S- Ed Reed
WR- Dwayne Bowe
Bengals Cuts
Jamaal Anderson
Bengals Mock Draft
Personally I would trade down if in the 1st round because if someone has a prospect very high on their boards they will be able to give up some good draft choices later on, If we get like a 2nd+4th+5th round offer for our 1st I dont mind or even a 2nd+5th Im fine with it.
So the scenario here is that someone wants to move back up to the back end of the draft, we giver them our 1st round in exchange for..let's say a 2nd and a 4th round
-Keep an eye out for Kyle Van Noy DE/LB out of BYU
-Also CB Leon McFadden out of SDSU
-Kenny Tate LB/S out of Maryland
Round 1: (Trade)
Round 2(via Oakland): Giovani Bernard RB North Carolina
Round 2(via trade): Alex Okafor DE Texas
Round 2: Phillip "Waka Flocka" Thomas S Fresno State
Round 3: Xavier Rhodes DB Florida State
Round 4: Shayne Skov LB Stanford
Round 4: Rick Wagner OT Wisconsin
Round 5: Josh Boyd DT Mississippi State
Round 6: Robbie Rouse RB Fresno State
Round 6: Tyrann Mathieu DB LSU
The other scenario is here
We are not going to trade down and there's not anyone who is wanting to jump up back into the back end of the draft
BPA
Round 1: Keenan Allen WR California
Round 2: Dallas Thomas OT Tennesee
Round 2: Phillip "Waka Flocka" Thomas S Fresno State
Round 3: Mike Gillislee RB Florida
Round 4: Kevin Reddick LB North Carolina
Round 5: Michael Buchanan DE Illinois
Round 6: Zach Rogers WR Tennessee
Round 6: Theo Riddick RB Notre Dame
From Biggie22 (Thanks for the Idea)
Bruce Gradkowski, Brian Leonard, Benard Scott, Brandon Tate, Richard Quinn, Robert Geathers, Manny Lawson, Rey Maualuga, Nate Clements, Terence Newman, and Jeromy Miles are expendable as well as Jason Allen and Jamaal Anderson.
These are my priorities to resign
Andre Smith (did anyone else realize he’s still only 25?). I’d resign him at around 5 years 40 million, which is actually similar to what he’s making now because he was a top 6 pick before the rookie wage scale and those guys got paid back then:)
Michael Johnson – Another ones whose only just 25 and just getting into the prime of his careeer. I’d sign him to a similar contract to Andre’s maybe slightly less at around 5 years 30 million which is good market value for a slightly above average DE pass rusher.
Adam Jones – He actually deserves a nice raise. He’s a little older and has obvious baggage (which I think we can all agree he has overcome), however b/c of age I’d still just keep it at a 2-3 year deal. I’d love to see us be able to resign him for a 2 year deal in the 8-9 million dollar range, which is what we gave to Jason Allen last year.
Andrew Hawkins, Pat Sims, Wallace Gilberry, Cedric Peerman, and Chris Crocker I’d bring back as well the kicker and punter (According to Biggie22)
So here will the be Mock Draft
Round 1: Giovani Bernard RB North Carolina
Round 2: Justin Hunter WR Tennessee
Round 2: Kenny Vaccaro S Texas
Round 3: Sean Porter LB Texas A&M
Round 4: Leon McFadden CB San Diego State
Round 5: Travis Kelce TE Cincinnati
Round 6: Travis Bond OG North Carolina
Round 6: Knile Davis RB Arkansas
