Bengals Cornerback Adam Jones Questionable On Sunday Versus Steelers; Reason To Worry?

Bengals cornerback Adam Jones surfaced on the injury report on Friday with a tweaked hamstring. Jones plays a variety of roles for Cincinnati, so if he's unable to go against Pittsburgh, it could play a major role in the outcome of the game.

Vontaze Burfict Sits Out Friday's Practice With Illness

For those of us who are unwise in the ways of a flu shot, the winter season can be a miserable one (hell, I'm suffering through a bit of a cold as I write this). starting weakside linebacker, Vontaze Burfict seems to be one of the many affected by the bug, as he sat out Friday's practice because of an illness. It's unclear how serious the illness is and/or if it will hinder his ability to play on Sunday.

A couple of weeks ago, star wide receiver A.J. Green sat out a practice because of an illness before the home game against the Dallas Cowboys. Unfortunately for Green, that game ended up being one of the worst of his career. We can't say with certainty that the illness had something to do with that, though.

Burfict currently leads all Bengals defenders in total tackles and could be a candidate for Rookie of the Year. He's been a great fit after going undrafted in this year's draft.

Bengals OT Andre Smith Returns To Practice On Friday

That was close.

After going limited during Thursday's practice with a foot, Bengals right tackle Andre Smith wasn't any worse for the wear it appeared, practicing during Friday's session. We'll find out if it was full or limited (only difference is that full includes 11-on-11 sessions whereas limited is just position drills).

Not unlike swimming below the surface and holding one's breath, there was some anxiety with Smith's sudden appearance on the injury list after the Bengals lost several players during a Thursday practice. And it's not like Andre Smith hasn't had his share of foot problems.

CB Dre Kirkpatrick Sits Out During Friday's Practice

It appears that Bengals cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick will miss his third straight game and his tenth this year after sitting out Friday's session, his second missed practice this week.

Kirkpatrick suffered a concussion against the San Diego Chargers earlier this month, forcing him to miss the last two games against the Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles.

We have to imagine if the concussion is serious enough, and it appears serious enough, perhaps it would be wise to shut him down for the rest of the year -- a possibility if they need the roster spot.

CB Dre Kirkpatrick Sits Out During Thursday's Practice

Dre Kirkpatrick participated in his first full practice since suffering a concussion several weeks ago -- and we're not including Monday's walkthrough against the Eagles last week.

However he wasn't able to go on Wednesday, possibly dealing with lingering issues he's had dating back to last Friday which begs the question from Monday. He was cleared?

Bengals OT Andre Smith Pops Up On Injury Report With A Foot

While starting left tackle Andrew Whitworth returned to practice on Thursday after working out a concussion suffered against the Philadelphia Eagles, Bengals starting right tackle Andre Smith was limited on Thursday with a foot.

Smith has been dealing with foot injuries throughout most of his career, notably during his first two seasons.

The Bengals have lost multiple players for the season during Thursday practices, such as Thomas Howard and wide receiver Mohamed Sanu.

Andrew Whitworth (Concussion) Sits Out During Wednesday's Practice

At one point late in the game against the Philadelphia Eagles, Bengals offensive tackle Andrew Whitworth lifted himself off the turf, becoming very unstable and noticeably showing signs of being a little woozy, long after the game had been decided.

Backup tackle Anthony Collins came in to finish the game.

It was later determined that he had suffered a concussion (though we kind of figured).

On Wednesday Whitworth sat out during practice, wearing a ball cap, despite saying t hat he feels fine. If Whitworth, who has faced some of the better pass rushers in the NFL this year, is unable to go, figure that Collins, who made his first career start against the Steelers in 2008, will get the start.

Whitworth was reportedly the only player not practicing.
