NFL Network: Eagles Expected To Look At Bengals Coordinators

Stay connected for news and updates

Howard Smith-USA TODAY Sports

We're going to hear Mike Zimmer and Jay Gruden mentioned a lot for head coaching vacancies this year.

According to Aditi Kinkhabwala with the NFL Network, the Philadelphia Eagles, who are expected to fire head coach Andy Reid on Monday, are reportedly looking at Cincinnati Bengals coordinators Mike Zimmer and Jay Gruden.

Don't be alarmed (nor shocked).

The Eagles, like most NFL teams with head coaching vacancies, are fully expected to approach their head coaching search with broad starting point including the obvious names. Both Zimmer and Gruden were looked at as candidates last year, with Zimmer even being a finalist for several vacancies.

ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter, when asked on Mike and Mike in the Morning about possible head coaches among NFL coordinators, immediately and firstly brought up both of Cincinnati's coordinators. However some believe that NFL teams could make a run for college coaches based on the successes of Jim Harbaugh, Pete Carroll and Greg Schiano.

These type of rumors we're sure are going to surface until coaching hires are settled later in January and maybe into February.
