According to Ian Rapoport with the NFL Network and NFL.com, the Chicago Bears have fired head coach Lovie Smith, who has instantly become the surprise firing at this point.
Though Chicago failed to make the postseason this year, they still won ten games this year. Additionally Smith had built up an 81-63 record during his nine seasons in Chicago with three playoff appearances, going 3-3 in the postseason with one Super Bowl appearance.
