Around SBN: How NBA Draft Lottery Results Affect Prospects' High Hopes

Hey Bengals fans, Dolphins fan here. I have a proposition for you guys. Let's say we are picking at number 8 and Trent Richardson is available. I know you guys need a major rehaul of you backfield and that you may be interested. Here is our offer for you. We give you the number 8 overall pick, along with our 5th rounder and WR Brian Hartline. For those of you who don't know about Hartline, I believe he will excel as a complement to AJ Green. He is a great number 2 reciever that can also play a slot role. He doesn't have elite speed, but is quick and is nicknamed "The Magician" because he catches almost every sideline pass thrown to him. He isn't going to get you a lot of yards after the catch, but he has enough speed to make CBs respect it. He is young at 25 and has a lot of upside. He is worth a 3rd or 4th round pick In return, would you be willing to send us both of your 1st round picks?

Guess I should provide reasoning.

Hartline isn’t that exciting to me. He’s not a true #2 that the Bengals need, so he’s not worth the pick.

I think the Bengals would try something more like 17 and 53 for 8 and forget about the rest.

Well, I would prefer two first rounders, since I really like Whitney Mercilus and Mark Barron

What else is a need for you? And when did i say i wanted a 3rd/4th from you guys? I was just stating Hartline’s value. The deal is #8, 5th rounder and Hartline for both 1st rounders. How about DE/DT Tony McDaniel, who is a good rotational guy who excels at batting down passes? Safety Yeremiah Bell, who struggles in coverage, but is a great veteran leader who is one of the best run stopping safeties in the league? Replace whichever you like for Hartline. We’ll throw in OT Marc Colombo to sweeten the deal (PLEASE TAKE HIM OFF OUR HANDS!)

I see, this makes a little more sense.

I still doubt that the Bengals would do this trade since they have pressing needs that can all be addressed at those two spots – CB, S, OG, RB – and while Richardson is a very, very good prospect, Brown is gunshy to trade up since Ki-Jana Carter and would probably wait for Miller or Martin later rather than trading up and forgoing the opportunity to address other positions with two first-round players.

So would you be happy for #8, Yeremiah Bell(since you guys need a safety) and our 5th

in return for both of you 1sts? If it were to happen

Last I checked, Yeremiah Bell wasn't particularly outstanding.

I don't think any of us will like the idea of trading both of our firsts

Unless we’re getting Trent Richardson, a starter-caliber safety, and a starter-caliber guard. We can probably draft Richardson or DeCastro, either one solves a huge problem, and get a good CB with the 2nd. That’s hard to beat.

No I would not do that.

Not that is necessarily an unfair deal, but the Bengals have more needs than Trent Richardson. More than likely 1 of these 3 (Richardson, Decastro, Kirkpatrick) falls to us at 17 and at 21 we either take a CB like Dennard/Jenkins or an OL like Konz or Cordy Glenn,

Nope.

We have a player in Hartline’s mold already, and we also need some help in the secondary.

Nope, sorry

I really don’t see the Bengals giving up both #17 and #21 for anybody in this draft (unless its for a QB – which will cost a lot more than just that – and in any case, we already have Dalton).
The only possible trade options I see for the Bengals are 1) they move 3-4 spots by giving a later round pick (2nd or 3rd) OR 2) they trade away the #21 to move down into top of the 2nd round.
