Sign Randy Moss?

How many would take Randy Moss as our #2 WR? As of right now we need a Reciever, and if we had a guy like Moss, who would teams decide to double cover, Moss or Aj? Plus adding fuel to the fire we have Gresham, Shipley, Whalen, & Hawkins to run the middle of the field so someone would have to be open. I know some may say Randy is a slouch and he doesn't hustle, but i know he has the skills to produce & be productive. Aj also looked up to Randy & i'm sure Randy could give Aj a few tips to the game to add onto the tips he's getting from Fitzgerald. Moss is 35 years old and some may say were a young team and we don't want him but i think he could be a nice complient next to Aj. Some of you guys were probably waiting on the first person to make this post & couldn't wait to bash them, so here it is...i'd like to here some of your takes on him.

I'll pass (pun intended)!

Young QB/WR, TO experiement didn’t work, finally got rid of Chad……the list goes on. He can still bring it I’m sure, but I’d let someone else take that risk and draft/sign a younger guy. We’ve been down that road…….

I'd sign Brandon Lloyd in FA, he's 31 i think

In the draft i wouldn’t get a guy in an early round (1,2)..i’d draft a guy in the 3rd or 4th round..but do we expect who we draft to start?..i’m thinking we might hit FA..but who knows.

I never expect huge things out of a newly drafted WR (other than a guy like Green)......

should look FA for an established guy, would like to see what Meachem can do across from Green.

He’s a quiet, passive-aggressive, insubordinant, selfish bastard, who hasn’t been good in on-on-one coverage since 2009. Not worth a second thought. Wasn’t even worth the first one.

I'm a Big Randy Moss fan but

Don’t see it happening , he won’t play unless motivated by a super bowl caliber team( not saying we couldnt make a run) , Moss only wants to play for a SB contender type team (Pats, Ratbirds, Giants, Eagles etc.) plus we already have the new Moss in AJ Green. One interesting thing is Moss was just in cincy the other day..

the titans only took him the rest of that season (2010) because of injuries at wr and still didnt use him often for those 8 games. no team pursued moss for the 2011 season.

wish him luck on his comeback, regardless of his skills, his attitude could be the reason he ends up in arena league or cfl and not the nfl.

Surprisingly

I’m not as oppossed to the idea as I thougt I would be. Since he’s a FA you could sign him to a one year deal and CUT HIS A$$ immediately if acts up and does NOT perform. If it works out we hit jackpot. Again it’s one of those low risk high reward scenereos

No thanks.

I think he’ll be good because he keeps himself in excellent shape, but we can’t take a risk on someone like him. He may not be quite as bad for a locker room as TO, but with a locker room full of young guys taking in a big personality isn’t what we need.

Randy Moss is a horrible idea

and to think that that many Bengal fans would want him is disheartening. In his last season the Pats didn’t want him, the Vikings cut him after 3 or 4 games, and his effort was laughable for the Titans. If the Bengals want to succeed they need to go after a WR who has had consistent production and no issues with effort and other bull shit. With the cap space they have going into next season, Marques Colston should be top priority for WR’s. If Moss can’t be happy on the Pats with Brady winging balls at him, why would he be happy anywhere else. Bringing in Moss would be T.O. and Chad X 10.

Hmmmm...

didn’t we sign Moss last year? when we drafted AJ Green… I don’t think its really necessary to bring in a player like Moss. He isn’t going to be a solution to our #2 problem, Moss would be more like a band aid thats half falling off. We have Randy Moss ability in AJ and we just need to find AJs best compliment whether thats Simpson or FA or a player in draft. Thats the direction I think we are going.

It's not Simpson, we wouldn't even be having this discussion if we wanted Simpson

simpson is a FA and that is part of the reason we are having this conversation

I understand that some fans believe its time for simpson to go, but the truth is, we only have a few players that we can get that would be considered an upgrade from simpson. I really think we stay with simpson. We can get him for cheap and he still has a lot of upside.

sounds like every WR in the league.

I think he did better than what most people would give him credit for. I think the biggest issue was Andy was a rookie and he tend to lock on AJ a lot. I don’t feel Simpson got the same looks as AJ. But like I said before, I will be comfortable with direction the coaches decide to go.

Nothing against Dalton, but since he and AJ were both rookies, they had a better connection because they were in-coming rookies and they mostly stay/practice with each other more, and besides Jerome went through a QB change and he had to learn a different system, it took him 3-4 years to get the Bratkowski Playbook and I’ll just bring him back to a 2 year contract

by Touhue Cha on Feb 13, 2012 9:01 PM EST up reply actions

Simpson doesn't get an excuse

They were all in the same boat together learning another system and having a new QB..Green did pretty well, so what gives Simpson an excuse.

no.

he wouldn’t settle as a number 2 receiver. he is a clear cut #1.

by spencodude on Feb 13, 2012 10:07 PM EST reply actions

From a strictly athletic standpoint....

Absolutely. It’s a low cost, high reward. I’m sure he would like to play for a “sure-fire” contender, but I believe those contenders will be scared to sign him. He wants to “play some ball” and I think he could be a great addition to sign to a low contract. Nothing overpaid, just because I believe the chemistry of this team is so Good right now. If he gets out of hand, cut him and let him try to find another team (Hey, TO how’d that work out?). I think he could show AJ the ropes. So right now I would say the Bengals should AT LEAST look into it. Sit him down, have a talk and see if this guy can fit in because Moss going deep is a DB’s nightmare.

by WhoDey92 on Feb 14, 2012 5:26 PM EST reply actions

i've heard he can still run the in the 4.4's

We need a receiver and Moss knows he if acts up with somebody that will be the end of him and his chances to sign with any team…I say we give him a look and see what he has to offer and if he’s got what it takes..if not, then oh well it was worth a look….& if we did, we could draft WR Marvin Jones in the 3rd or 4th round to come in and learn the system behind Aj and Moss…

to me this too strongly reinforces the stereotype of the Bengals being the place to go when no one else wants you

Bring me your whiny, your underperforming, your draft busts. I want the team to move away from that image. If we had a desperate need for another WR, I might relent, but we don’t. We’d like another WR, we don’t desperately need one.

i think this really a moot point

Moss already said he only wanted to play for a few teams. Im guessing the Pats being one of them. I dont think anyone thinks he has nothing left in the tank. I really think it was his decision not to come back to a team unless they are committed to win or ready to win it all. And he believes there are only a select few.

Didn't say that

No idea what he has left. That’s really not the question. Even if there were no locker-room concerns it wouldn’t be the question. The question would be how much will he bother to try? He has shown more than just about anyone in league history that he’ll play hard when he feels like it and he’ll walk through it in when he doesn’t.

no matter how much he wants to prove himself, if he goes 2 games without being the star of the show he’ll start pouting and stop trying. That’s his M.O.
