Around SBN: 7 Important Questions About The Heat Vs. Celtics Series

Hello Again!

I read your comments on my earlier post and decided to give you a little more of my opinions and ideas for the draft. I will continue to update it, as annoying as it may be, with who available in your dream pick ups.

Now I know very little about the bengals( personal ignorance) but wont Lamar Miller, give your offense a little more flash at the RB position? I believed that many Bengal fans didn't like Cedric Benson, who in my opnion, is a lot like Trent Richardson. I also declined the trade and instead am thinking about standing pat and getting either DeCastro or Kirpatrick depending whos there and Miller in the second first round pick. I also thought of getting Dwight Jones/Malcolm Flyod in the second. I may try trading up, but for who?

I would take Richardson over Miller if there but

Im one of only a few people on this blog that is big on Miller. Most people would rather get Martin in the 2nd, even though he most likely wont be there.

Miller

I think his speed, agility and frame are what you look for in a first round back. He had 3 different position coaches in 3 years at Miami, so with more consistent coaching he will improve in the passing game, which he already has shown ability.

Also

He suffered a shoulder injury early in the year that showed his toughness but it prevented him from lowering his shoulders to run through tackles, like he showed in his freshman year that he is capable of doing.

I think Martin could contribute more next year on all 3 downs but as a long term prospect, Miller brings more elite attributes to the table and will be a better player 2 years from now. I would be happy with him with the 21st pick.

i think the general consensus on Cincy Jungle

is that #21 is a little too high for Miller (especially now that he might be injured), although it depends on what CB’s and OG’s are left at that spot.

Richardson is what the national media thinks Benson is.

Richardson breaks tackles, moves the pile, and makes decisive cuts and goes. Benson studders, and goes down on first contact. I like miller, I like Martin more, even in the first. I love the speed of Miller, just not sure he has the power for the afc north.

I agree that is a question I have with Miller

But I would also say, in the AFCN yards and points are hard to come by. So when a team gets a big play they have to strike it big. I think Miller has the breakaway speed to turn those plays into td’s. I dont see that with Martin.

Dont get me wrong

I like Martin. If we dont get Richardson or Miller, he is the next guy I want. I just think as far as a first rounder, Miller brings more qualities and upside that warrants a first round pick. I have him as the 15th best player on my board.

I think a pure speed back can be had later

Although Miller is more power than the others, but not enough to make a difference in the NFL, atleast that I’ve seen. Miller seems like a boom or bust, Chris Johnson type or reggie bush type.

didnt see it with ray rice coming out of college either

I know any short back gets compaired to ray rice, and most aren’t even close, but he has the power, enough speed, and the hands.

Richardson just like Benson???

Richardson is a one cut runner that takes what is there no matter how little or much is there and Benson trys to wait for a hole instead of putting his head down and going up the field just falls forward. Richardson is a MONSTER!!! Huge workout warrior that shows up on the field. Would love him if he falls if not DeCastro, Kirkpatrick ,or Wright at 17 I would like Miller, Wilson, or Martin in that order but 21 is too high for any of them trade down late first or early second for Miller or just draft Wilson or Martin in the second they should both be there

Benson is to Richardson like plastic fruit is to real fruit

yes, they are similar…but that little difference makes them incredibly unsimilar.

Isn't plastic fruit more resilient than real fruit?

rb is so deep in this draft

most fans on CJ are happy to wait until the 2nd to 4th rounds rather than reach for a rb at #21. if richardson falls to us at #17 great, if not, we can wait until the 2nd – 4th. the only rb in the top 10 rankings of prospects bengals seem to have a disdain for is wilson. his attitude and fumble issues hit a little too close to benson territory.

if you can score the RBs for cincy like this:

1st: Trent Richardson
2nd: Lamar Miller, Doug Martin
3rd: Chris Polk, Isaiah Pead

we only need 1.

tho I'd add a 4th round list

Cyrus Gray, maybe a couple other guys not named Wilson.

turbine in the 4th

is my sleeper back of the draft. that dude is going to wreck some nfl defenses.

I wouldn't be upset with Turbin in the 4th

As long as we’re not counting on him right away. If we also have a FA like BJGE then I could get behind it. The scouting report I saw worried me a little bit with talk about indecisiveness coming up to the line, carrying the ball like a loaf of bread sometimes, etc, but he appears to have pretty good upside.

by indesignkat on Feb 15, 2012 3:39 PM EST up reply actions

he's a beast

dude has the best shoulder hit coming out of college this year. he puts his shoulder down and drops defenders. totally the type of back jim anderson loves to groom.

I agree

For some odd reason I feel we are going to end up getting Wilson because none of us want him.

by EPK1979 on Feb 15, 2012 2:53 PM EST via mobile up reply actions

yup.

I agree

although Miller has more potential, I don’t think he will reach it. Martin has been my pick for RB since the end of our season.

we dont need 2 rbs in the draft

2nd: Lamar Miller, Doug Martin
3rd: Chris Polk, Isaiah Pead

we only need 1.

brian leonard, bernard scott, and peerman are already on the team as rbs
