Just a thought
I know the Bengals have bigger needs (OG,RB,CB and S). I just was thinking bout the leader on D. Rey had a up and dwn year in 2011. The last two years Rey has missed games due to injuries. I believe Rey still has some growing to do at MLB. I was thinking that the Bengals bring in someone that can teach Rey and maybe motivate him at the same time. My thought was London Fletcher. Yes he is up in age but he has been very productive his years in the NFL. Don't think the Bengals would have to spend much to get him. Maybe sign him to a two year deal. London hasn't slowed down any as he gets up in age. Would like to know what Bengals think. Remember its just a thought. Don't chew my head off :-)

If he's cheap, sure.

How damn old is London?
Sure he’d be nice on a 1 year contract,i’m not sure isnt he like 38?

It wouldn't be a bad thing if we were in a better position
And I’m not sure he would want to play second fiddle to Rey. We have quite a few LB on our roster now. Some are just ST guys some are unknowns. If we had great starters and good depth I’d be all for it but we don’t so it’s probably not a good idea at this time.

If we're signing old guys lets bring Takeo back
Let him finally get a taste of the playoffs… hopefully. :)
(kidding)
if spikes came cheap enough (for depth)
would not be opposed to the idea.

Not me Pale. He didn't want to be here before and I don't want people here who don't want to be here.

a ton of the fans that follow this team now
didn’t want to be here then. after dealing with the disappointment of the 90s. the early 2000s for cincy had a few bleak moments scattered among glimmers of hope. spikes never said anything disrespectful of the team or city i can recall. guys like dan wilkerson, yeah, i never wanted that sob back in cincy after he called the town a bunch of racists trying to deflect his own guilt over the hate he received for punching his pregnant girlfriend down steps.

All I know Pale is that when we were in need of his services when ML
took over he left for very similar money. Pale, a lot of people value loyalty. I guess I go a bit over the top in that regard. I admit it. It wouldn’t really bother me that much if he came back and coulld help – but I am not that interested in persuing him.

kat, we are discussing Takeo Spikes
"If we always agree, one of us is not necessary"
i would love to get fletcher!
Even at his age he’s one of the best linebackers in the game, he is so under rated and would be a stud in zimmers d. He would be like dhani was as a leader and technician, but with the big play ability he lacked.

+1, love Te'o. Would be the QB for our defense that we've been lacking.
We draft some safety help from a deep class next year too and we’re rolling……

+1 agree on Safety next year
Hope we stay right away from them in this draft. With CB so deep this year would rather spend the pick on another one if them
D'hani was a stud and knows the D, perhaps he's had enough of retirement ....
Pick up the phone – give him a call. At least to fill in for Rey during his coming suspension…
i'd much rather sign fa LBs
than spend draft picks on LBs. marvin’s LB draft record is spotty to crappy. would sooner use our draft picks on secondary help, which tends to be too expensive in free agency for the bengals to land any top tier secondary help.
in summary:
1) fix any lb issues in fa
2) fix any secondary issues in the draft.

Fletcher has consistently been one of the best LBs in the league
and never seems to get noticed for it. I’d love to have him.
Guy would be a welcome addition.........
Hutchinson, Bobbie, Fletcher……..we could just make a Senior Center at the complex (oh wait, nevermind). Seriously, with as young a team that we have, adding in a few of these veterans wouldn’t hurt at all. For the leadership and mentoring they would provide, would be all for it.

REY...
This as his first year at MLB so i was willing to give him a pass fo his misques. HOWEVER…… The off-the-field issue(s) suggest to me we should be moving way from him. He’s facing suspensions up the whazoo for next season. As critical a position as MLB is in our system we gotta have some maturity and leadership! And he ain’t got that!
Not sure if I agree that we need someone as old as London. It’s a “hungry” defense…
I represent the Bengals of Cincinnati with extreme passion and prejudice and make no apologies for it!
I hate that excuse
Last year it was “he’s not in his natrual position, we need to get rid of that loser Dhani and put Rey where he belongs”. This year it’s “Dhani was great, but Rey could get there. He needs time to adjust to the new position.”

At some time or another you have to stop looking at what he can do and
begin not only looking at what he actually has done and more importantly the quality of a person he is. No, I am not saying get rid of him. What I am saying is that he has been a disappointment. His counterparts at USC are way more effective than he has been and it is time for him to step up and be a man Just because you are big and tough does not mean you are a man and we need men on this team not big immature children.
"If we always agree, one of us is not necessary"
As far a London, he can still play at a high level even at his age. He's part of the reason why the Redskins LB core was pretty good last year.
