2011 proved to be the best & worst season of Jerome Simpsons three year career. Jerome finished the season with 53 catches for 758 yards, four touchdowns and 1 case of trafficking marijuana in excess of 8 ounces.
When I first read that police busted Jerome Simpson after tracking a package containing over 2.5lbs of Marijuana en-route to his Northern Kentucky home, I was disappointed. Not only do I believe he has squandered away a golden opportunity to make something of himself, he let his coaches, team mates and fans down who are trying to change the perception of the Bengals organization.
Since then, Jerome Simpson has pleaded Not Guilty to the crime. Although Jerome's lawyer, Burr Travis, has stated that the package was not addressed to Jerome, I think there is enough evidence to charge him with the crime. That being said, it is also possible that Jerome is found Not Guilty. If this happens, we think that the league would still punish Jerome for violating the leagues personal conduct policy.
I wrote Jerome off back in September. I'll admit that I went nuts when he front-flipped into the endzone but that didn't really change my opinion of him. I wonder how I will feel if he is found Not Guilty? I might be willing to welcome him back to the team. The jury is still very much out in his case.
What do you guys think? Would you resign him either way? Would you not resign him either way?
