FA/Draft

I think the bengals should get at least one big name FA this and i believe that it should be a guard or cornerback. If we decide to go with a guard i believe the saints will sign brees long time early so they can use the franchise tag on nicks so i would go after grubbs because i believe that the ravens cant afford to bring back rice and grubbs. For cornerback there are so many good ones in free agency (finnegan, grimes, carr, etc). I would go with finnegan out of that group because hes tough and a hard hitter and he isn't too happy with the titans organization but i believe since we are run by mike brown he will probably not do either and go after someone he can get cheap such as mathis cornerback from jacksonville because hes coming off a knee injury so that means brown can get the bargain bin guy that he likes. I also believe that we would be foolish not to sign mike Wallace to an offer sheet. Hopefully we do that and get him and then give the 21st pick to the steelers for him. A lot of people think that should get Michael bush also which I agree but I believe he will want more money than brown would like to give out so if we sign another free agent running back I would think it would be someone like Tim Hightower who played great last year before he tore his knee so another guy brown could get cheaper.

For the draft I think the two best guys for the bengals at 17 are TR and decasto. But I believe they will both be gone so I would trade down and pick up another second round because I like 17 is too high for Glenn and Jenkins (character issue not his skill). So we would have a last first, two seconds and at least a third to help fill holes.

First round Cordy Glenn or Gilmore depending on what position they want

Second round Doug Martin and either Washington guard from Miami or hosley cb from vt depending on what we took in 1st

Third round Winston guy jr. Safety from Kentucky

Let me know what you think

of the rb's that will reach free agency (ie: not franchised)

i’m not sold on any of them. would rather draft a rb in the 2nd to 4th round. use a running back by committee approach in 2012 with leonard, the rookie, and scott each seeing a 100+ carries.

the free agent pool is strongest at guard and linebacker. would like to see the bengals address most of their needs at those positons in free agency. except for one stud guard to groom.

would use the draft’s deep pools at secondary and running back to fill those holes. drafting 3 DBs and 1 RB sounds like a winner to me.

i’d also be happy retaining about 5-10 of our free agents.

agreed

though I wouldn’t mind seeing BJGE brought in for low money to groom the draft pick. We obviously want Benson gone long before any impressionable new kids come in.

I want to see Nicks, but I agree with the post in that the Saints probably won’t let him go. He is said to want more than Jahri Evans is getting, which is a ton, so he’ll probably get tagged. I would like to see a Guard taken with one of the first round picks, and wouldn’t be surprised if DeCastro is there at 17. If not, go Glenn at 21. Kid looks like a mauler at G. I definitely want to see at least 1 each of CB and S in the draft, guys that could contribute right away. There isn’t a great S prospect, but those are pretty rare anyway. Go for a guy in the 3rd or so and hope for the best. Take a couple CBs, one to (hopefully) start and one to work on. If Richardson falls, which I still think is possible if not likely, then take him. Otherwise go for a RB in the 2nd or 3rd, maybe even 4th depending on how fast they go.

Please keep the FAs we have. Not Benson, but guys like Fanene, Lawson, and Collins.
