The reason I'm asking is because I was looking up FA CB's and started to notice a trend. A lot of the top rated CB's who are FA's this year appear to be from small schools.
This is a list I took directly from Walter Football and it's there top 10 available free agent CB's this year.
Ladarius Webb - Nicholls State
Brandon Carr - Grand Valley State
Cortland Finnegan – Samford
Carlos Rogers - Auburn
Brent Grimes – Shippensburg
Richard Marshall - Fresno State
Tracy Porter – Indiana
William Middleton – Furman
Stanford Routt – Houston
Terrell Thomas – USC
The interesting thing about this list is 7 out of the top 10 are from non BCS schools and 8 out of the top 10
are from schools you would normally not consider a traditional college football power.
So having said that, here's a list of small school CB's who will be available in this upcoming draft. Some of these guys may be pretty good prospects for the Bengals to look at after the first round (I have NOT included Janoris Jenkins b/c everyone already knows who he is and he played at Floridia).
Justin Bethel Presbyterian
Emanuel Davis, CB, East Carolina
Isaiah Frey, CB, Nevada
Tashaun Gipson, CB, Wyoming
I really like the top 4 a lot and would be extemely happy if we grab at least one of them in this draft.
Who is your favorite? Is taking a chance on one of these lesser known prospects something the Benglas should consider?
