Bengal fans owe Ocho!

Bengal Fans,

I urge you to root for former Bengal Chad Ochocinco today. I know he is no longer a Bengal and didn't leave under the best circumstances. I also know he didn't contribut to the Pats ver much this year. But Chad helped make the Bengals relevant again. He did more the make the Bengals relevant than most people in the organization.

Here's why: I am a Bengals fan living 2 hours north west of PA. I grew up thinking I was the only Bengal fan in PA. But starting 6-7 years ago, I began teaching and saw several students wearing Bengal jerseys. When I asked them why they like the Bengals, the students would say "Chad Johnson". He had incredibly productive seasons with flashly end zone dances. Ochocinco brought a new generation of fans to Cincy.

One could argue Ochocinco was the player the Bengals needed (at the time).

This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of Cincy Jungle's writers or editors. It does reflect the views of this particular fan though, which is as important as the views of Cincy Jungle's writers or editors.

Chad Johnson was my favorite player when he was here

And i don’t understand the hate towards him. Like you said, he made Cincy relevant again. I will be routing for Chad, hopefully he can pull off something big in this years super bowl to add to his legacy.

Chad was my favorite player as well

He had phenominal hands and incredible body control, and the abiity to keep his feet in bounds on sidelines when laying out to make the catch.

Also, this might be his last game.....

I remember Corey Dillion who was also traded to the Pats. I thought Corey was going to rack up yardage for the Pats for 2 years longer. He was productive for the year or two he was in New England but was abruptly let go. Chad is a reciever with diminishing skills and I think he finally knows it. It will be hard to see him next year with the Pats and I don’t know who will pick him up.

BTW… I live 2 hours north west of Philly. Sorry for the typo’s but when I tried to preview the post, it would disappear.

Also, correct me if I am wrong....

… Corey Dillion is the only former Bengal with a Super Bowl ring as a player. I guess Ken Anderson has one as a Steelers’ Coach. Does anyone know if there are any other’s out there?

Chad Johnson yes, Ocho no!

It wasn’t necessarily the flashy things he did that made me a fan, although they were fun to watch. I liked Chad because he seemed like a genuine kid at one point, telling the coach he wanted to be the best, like another Jerry Rice. He was an underdog of sorts in my book. He made me want him to succeed with his aspirations to be great and juvenile attitude. Then something happened to him, he got to big for his britches, or had some crazy sense of entitlement after a few good seasons. My opinion of him changed when he wanted out of Cincy the team that gave him his chance and put the Ocho on the map. The Bengals helped Chads career as much or more than Chad helped them. It’s really telling to me how much the Bengals hid Chads shortcomings by keeping him in the X position never moving him, never putting him in motion, and giving him a small amount of responsibility in the playbook. Now Chads in NE and their not so nice and expect him to do what all good WR do and learn a whole playbook and expect him to move around but he can’t. It’s like we had a hard time here teaching him algebra 1 and their trying to teach him trig. So the Bengals helped him out alot and I don’t think I can pull for NE because of a guy on the bench.

Your right about one thing

He was a great athlete that we set up to produce big. We was and is a great person at heart just started to become a diva. At first you know he was really joking around and having fun but I think he started believing he was the best and that just did not happen but he was FUN to watch

really hoping chad finishes with enough yards to reach the hall of fame

national media attention aside, if you followed what chad did in town for the locals when the camera wasn’t on him, the guy was a class act off the field and good for the city. spent most of his years in cincy buying dinners for fans and signing autographs. there is no 12 year kid with a story of chad ignoring him in cincy.

hope chad finds a team that will use him, the pats aren’t that team.

Gotta be a few ex-Bengals w/Rings

Lenvil Elliott w/Niners
Artrell Hawkins w/Pats (?)

Chad's antics did bring interest from some non-football fans to the Bengals

But his antics also had a negative effect on the team’s performance on the field.

Self-focused entertainers may be good for the game, but aren’t always good for your team.

I have nothing againt Chad, but i’m rooting for the Giants.

Too be honest

I’d like to see Chad contribute and play well but I’d still like the Giants to win to the game. I like the Giants much more than the Pats

Sorry Chad Johnson, but i just can't root for the Pat's

They just cut one of their players, Tiquan Underwood, the day before the Super Bowl.
Are you kidding me?

I did

I definitely rooted for Chad last night. I don’t want him on our team anymore, but he was always good to the fans, and I feel like that earned my support.

I still wanted the Giants to win, but if Chad had caught a long pass to win the game I wouldn’t have been upset. I would have liked to have seen him have that moment in the super bowl spotlight. He was good to us.

atleast he did get a catch

and was in for more than 2 snaps…i’m happy he got a TD, but my perfect scenario would have been Chad, 4-6 grabs 100+ yds, 2 TD’s, and pats lose by 3 TD’s.

Still, as someone said above, i just hope he goes to a team that uses him, hate to see him end his career with a year like this one

His catch was pretty nice too

He ran a great and showed that he still has some of the quickest feet in the NFL. I thought the Pats could have used him more with Gronk being mostly ineffective.

Was our Leader at one time

Then became our cancer
I’m glad he got a catch, and i’m happy he doesnt play here anymore
