"Cincinnati is a good, really young team that is playing well. It would be fun," said Woodson during Sunday’s NFLPA Legends Brunch. "It’s always fun to be with young guys in the secondary. It’s a good nucleus and coaching staff. Marvin has to make a decision of how it would fit in with his coaching staff and players and Mike Zimmer is going to have some say in that. We just have to wait and see how it works out."

The fact
they haven’t already announced him to be the DB coach surprises me. The second Coyle left, I figured it was a done deal for Woodson to be here. Makes me wonder if Marvin is waiting after tonight’s game to make contact with someone.
thinking same thing
there are 6000 guys out there that he could get to come to cincy….The fact that he hasnt announced anything yet gives me the impression he is waiting for someone….

Woodson may be waiting for the Bengals to pick up some more talent for the secondary from free agency before he decides.

He should be
confident in his ability to coach people up.

True, but how much can you coach up Crocker, Mays, Sands, Ghee, etc. before realizing you have to move on and get more talented personnel?

Every team is making hirings this week.
Business doesn’t stop other teams because there’s a game. Outside of Cincy, no one will notice/care about Woodson’s hiring.

I hope the Bengals are weighing their options. Just because Woodson was a great player and have ties to Marvin doesnt mean he will be a great fit with this coaching staff. With that being said, I hope he is the guy they choose.

Do we still need a LB coach?
Maybe they wanna get the possible addition to the defense together to make sure they all mesh. So maybe Marvin is waiting for the opportunity to hire the LB coach and then DB coach together. Dunno. Just a possibility. If I’m wrong about the LB coach then disregard my rambling.

That's a possibility.
I don’t see any obvious connections with these two teams and Marvin. Then again, we never knew who Jay Gruden was a year ago. Maybe Marvin has something up his sleeve.

Im pretty sure you are right.
And I didnt think about that. That may be the situation.

Maybe it's Zimmer that has the connections?

Coughlin,Belechick and Zimmer
All coached under Parcells, so there could be some connections.

If you can hire a HOF player to coach his position you should sign him.
It seems to me that Zimmer has his eyes on someone else who might be coaching in the SB.

My picks for 1st and 2nd rd of draft.
1st pick Kirkpatrick if he’s there. If not Jenkins. At 21. Decastro or Barron. If Decastro is there go Decastro. And for 2nd rd. if Doug Martin is there we need to take him. I really like this guys motor. Def a capable AFC N running back! I’m getting too excited. I am ready for this draft now!

If DeCastro falls to #17, much less #21...
something went wrong with the draft.
If Woodson wants to come here
We need to get him.I think he can do a good job with our secondary
AJ Green = Optimus Prime
My gut still says
that the hires were “We know who we want, but they’re busy on Sunday.”
That doesn’t have to be a coach. Was Rod Woodson broadcasting for someone?
My gut tells me it would be a great hire. Any time you get a hall of famer at a position to coach your guys, you’re a step up.
This is why it’s a shame Ray Lewis didn’t retire. Even with zero direct coaching experience, he’s been coaching the defense from on the field for years, and what he could have done for the Bengals’ backers is mind boggling. Marvin has described him as being like a son.
Zimmer plus Ray Lewis plus Woodson, plus the potential Polamalu-lite impact of someone like Mark Barron and the Bengals D could have shocked people in 2012.
If “Outside Linebackers Coach” to “Linebackers Coach” is enough of an upward step to get Kevin Greene away from Green Bay, then I think that would be amazing as well.
