My 2012 Mock Draft
Here is my 1st 2012 mock draft. I'm trying to be as realistic as possible. Let me know what you all think.
1st Round - Pick 17 - Dre Kirkpatrick, CB, Alabama - This kid is a physical 6'2, 215lb, 4.4 running ballhawk. Got busted for pot so may slide to us. Our kind of guy. Obviously, DeCastro is the pick if he is here, but doubt he will make it pass Dallas.
1st Round - Pick 21 - Cordy Glenn, OG, Georgia - Big, strong kid that would come in and give a boost in the running game. More of a mauler than a finesse player like DeCastro. The Bengals love drafting players from Georgia and would have good rapport with Boling and A.J. However, if we land DeCastro with the 17th pick, this becomes a DB pick such as Kirkpatrick or Jenkins.
2nd Round - Pick 53 - Doug Martin, RB, Boise State - Ray Rice / MJD built and all around game qualities. May not be here if he solidifies his 4.4 - 40 at the Combine. I do think we need to take a RB or DT in this round. If Martin is not there, then we take Pead, or a DT such as Alamenda Ta'amu or Dontari Poe.
3rd Round - Pick 84 - Markelle Martin, S, Oklahoma State - Next best safety after Barron. Good size and 4.4 speed. Earl Thomas like. We could also look at other Safeties such as George Iloka from Boise St. or Antonio Allen.
4th Round - Pick 116 - T.Y. Hilton, WR/KR, Florida Int - No. 1 WR for Florida Int last year and Special Teams Ace of the Conference. Runs a high 4.3 / low 4.4. Could challenge for 4th or 5th WR spot and will compete to start as the Kick Returner. As we all know, Tate is not the guy. Need to upgrade with more speed and big play ability.
5th Round - Pick 5A - Derek Wolfe, DT, Cincy - 6'5, 300 lbs, 21.5 TFL and 9.5 sacks last year. Would be a great value pick here and would battle to get into the rotation.
5th Round - Pick 5B- Jeff Demps, RB/KR, Florida - It's about time the Bengals look into getting a true scat back with blazing 4.3 speed. This guy can do it all and could be very Darren Sprole like. Can you imagine a backfield with a bellcow like Michael Bush (please sign him), that would split carries with a faster, smaller Martin/Pead, and Demps come in on 3rd down and really change the pace? All of them can catch it out of the backfield. A nightmare for a DC. Sorry Scott and Leonard.
6th Round - Josh Robinson, CB/KR, Central Florida - Could come in and battle for the 4th CB spot and Kick Returner. I know A.J. Green would want him on the team. Robinson held Green in check when they played. 4.3 / 4.4 speed.
7th Round - Taylor Gentry, FB, N.C. State - 6'2, 250lbs, need to bring someone in to challenge Pressley for the starting position. We are all about a good competition.
WHO DEY!

robinson will not make it to the 6th.
No way possible. Ty Hilton is a wasted pick, no need to spend a 4th round pick on a 4th wide reciever, especially drafting 2 more kick returners. Not a big fan of Glenn, would rather go with konz. Other than that I like the picks.

Robinson could slide. You never know with mid-round guys. T.Y. Hilton could actually compete to start as a No. 2. You should watch some tape on him. Real Quick of the line and fast, not scared to go down the middle. Plus, his KR/PR skills are much needed. They need to draft a few guys that can actually compete for that spot while still contributing elsewhere. My opinion though.
ive watched a few ty hilton games
Decent player but not an upgrade over caldwell imo. And Robinson is to good to fall that far, I would take him in the 3rd if he’s there.

Kirkpatrick is a good pick!! Glenn not so sure I would rather get a G in free agency like Nicks or Grubbs we have the money to spend. I would go with Kendall Wright if he is still there and would most likely go with him before Kirkpatrick and wait and see on Kirkpatrick falling. If Kirkpatrick is not there at 21 then maybe Brockers your 2nd and 3rd are PERFECT!!! not looked into guys in the later rounds that much yet
We all would love to sign Nicks or Grubbs, but aint going to happen. When does Mike Brown ever go out and get a top free agent? He bottom feeds for disgruntled talent at a cheap price.
I hate Micheal Brockers
He plays fast and physical but he don’t make elite type plays….Brandon Thompson & Alameda Ta’Amu are 2 of the best imo.
He plays fast and physical
That is exactly what I like about him on top of his size. High motor and talented we can work with that
Not 1st round material.
CBS says he is one of the top DT’s. I don’t see that in his play. I’m tellin ya if want a constant motor who plays physical then check out Brandon Thompson..I would post you the link but his highlights are no longer on youtube.
Found this video on DTs
and Brandon Thompson is the first one they show

liked last highlight playing in space will find more on him
thanks for pointing him out
I like Thompson too
But I disagree about Brockers. He is definitely a 1st rounder just on his physical attributes and upside alone, imo.

I heard the same thing about Demps wanting to compete in the olympics
so he is out.
I don’t like the Michael Bush pick up, I would rather keep Leonard. I like the thought of Leonard/Martin/speed back as our RB’s.

If we plan on getting Martin..
idk what were suppose to do with Bernard Scott, i’ve always liked the guy but he’s never really gotten a shot..I wouldn’t mind picking up Bush and splitting the carries between Bush & Scott….Or giving Scott the starting role and have a power back in our lineup.
Bush and Scott
neither is special we need to find our guy. I thing Leonard is better then Scott
How about replace Jeff Demps with Chris Rainey? They're the same type of runningback
Paul Brown Stadium, where everyone's hopes go to die.
And I'd take a look at Harrison Smith
if he makes it to the 3rd

Smith out of Notre Dame is good, but I figured he would go after Barron. Probably late 2nd or early 3rd round.
Id look at him in Round 2 if CB & RB are addressed in round 1

Note:
You called Kirkpatrick a “Ballhawk”. I’m not one to use stats, but I don’t believe he had an interception last season.
