With quarterback Peyton Manning's release and Indianapolis facing a rebuilding effort, Garcon's intentions to test the free agent market come as no surprise.
Soon after, ESPN's John Clayton confirmed Kuharsky's report on Garcon, adding that both he and Vincent Jackson will test the free agent market..
Vincent Jackson AND Pierre Garcon are going to be free. The free agent market is getting very interesting. It looks as though
Garcon is one of many talented free agent wide receivers, a market which includes his teammate Reggie Wayne, the above mentioned Vincent Jackson, and the often mentioned Mario Manningham. Cincy Jungle's own Ryan Harper recently wrote about the prospect of Pierre Garcon signing with the Cincinnati Bengals, and the partnership makes more sense with each passing day. The Colts, faced with salary cap issues, prioritized the extension of defensive end Robert Mathis, making them unable to franchise tag Garcon or Wayne. For cap reasons, Indianapolis also released Joseph Addai, Dallas Clark, Gary Bracket, and Melvin Bullitt.
If Pierre Garcon is looking for a team with a promising future, with enough money to meet his demands, and in need of a No. 2 wide receiver, then what better team than the Cincinnati Bengals. Come tomorrow afternoon, Garcon will officially be a free agent and a solid option for any team stricken with receiver shortages.
