According to The Cincinnati Enquirer's Joe Reedy, Bengals safety Reggie Nelson's agent is saying that his client, who happen to be the Bengals' most important pending free agent, will become a free agent.
Reggie Nelson's agent: "Reggie will become a free agent. We will continue to have discussions with Bengals but will explore all options."
Free agency officially opens Tuesday at 4 p.m. (ET) and it appears that when 4 p.m. rolls around, Nelson will officially become a free agent to test the market. This could be a good or bad thing for the Bengals. At worst, it could drive Nelson's price up higher than the Bengals are willing to pay, or it could lower his price if he finds there aren't any teams willing to pay what he feels he's worth.
Either way, it looks like the Bengals are going to let Nelson test the market and see what happens.
