The big news of the day is obviously the Bengals bringing back safety Reggie Nelson, but the Bengals will be meeting with a former Houston Texan soon. Tight end Joel Dreessen recently visited the Saints and is on his way to visit the Bengals, according to The Houston Chronicle's John McClain.
The Bengals are very much in need of a backup to pro bowl tight end
Jermaine Gresham.
Donald Lee and
Bo Scaife are free agents and it is unknown if either will be back next season.
Colin Cochart is another option at tight end, though signing a proven veteran like Dreessen is likely preferred. Dreessen will be thirty years old in July and was a sixth round pick out of Colorado State by the
New York Jets in 2005. Dreessen was a red zone weapon for the Texans last season,
catching six touchdown passes. The 2010 season was his most productive as a pro, catching 36 passes for 518 yards and four touchdowns.
