Earlier this week Jason La Canfora with the NFL Network wrote that Cincinnati Bengals cornerback Adam Jones was "nearing a new contract". Despite the fact La Canfora didn't mention what team he might be signing with, we had just assumed it was a re-signing with Cincinnati. Bengals.com beat writer Geoff Hobson writes that Cincinnati is still in talks with Jones and that at least two other teams reportedly interested.
Jones has played two season with the Bengals for a total of 13 games. He suffered a neck injury against the Atlanta Falcons in 2010, and along with hamstring and groin issues the following year, Jones was forced to miss the first half of the 2011 season. During his 13-game career with the Bengals, Jones has generated an interception, forced fumble, nine passes defensed and 42 tackles.
Additionally Jones has fielded seven punts in his two-year Bengals career, averaging 14.3 yards/return -- which included a 63-yard return against the Seattle Seahawks last year.
