As we notified you all on Wednesday, the Cincinnati Bengals' coaching staff was on hand at the Boston College Pro Day workouts. The star on display at the workout was inside linebacker, Luke Kuechly, who is slated to go in the middle of the first round. The Bengals were apparently so impressed with Kuechly that they've decided to arrange a visit with the former Golden Eagle.
Luke Kuechly will visit his home town team the Cincinnati Bengals on Saturday. They called him today to schedule the visit
Kuechly would fill a hole in the middle left by Rey Maualuga's inconsistent play and impending legal issues. If the Bengals were to draft Kuechly, it would likely pave the way for the team to either trade Maualuga or move him back to the SAM linebacker position if they lose out on Manny Lawson. There's a strong chance that Kuechly would be available when the Bengals are on the clock at No.17.
Kuechly is a tackling machine and has had strong workouts, both in the Combine and his individual Pro Day. He's also a very instinctive player and intelligent guy--two traits that are needed in a middle linebacker. Head coach Marvin Lewis has been looking for his next Ray Lewis and he though he had him in Maualuga, but that hasn't played out the way we all had hoped. It will be interesting to see if this visit leads to them selecting Kuechly, but he's definitely on their radar.
