Obviously we've had problems at the safety position for the past few years, and we've seen how Crocker, our current starting SS, is a clear liability to an otherwise dominant D. Now, we want to patch Crocker up with a stiff-hipped physical specimen, Taylor Mays. While the upside is clearly there, we might want a contingency plan, as we will need a strong secondary to keep up with the pass happy NFC East and AFC West next year. We will face elite QB's like Manning/Manning, Vick, Rivers, and perhaps RG3 (hey, if Dalton could be a success his rookie year, this guy definitely do the same). It's clear our defense, especially our secondary, will need to be top notch. So, instead of just guessing with Mays, maybe we should get a former pro-bowl player at the postition: Yeremiah Bell, former starting SS and leading tackler of the MIA dolphins (released because of cap space, not character concerns or drop-off in play). This guy could really help our secondary and could groom Mays and Sands.
