Twitter Mock - #MockTwo

I got the opportunity to represent the Bengals in #MockTwo on Twitter recently. Joe Goodberry represented in #MockOne. The 7th round is still ongoing, but seeing as we don't have any 7th rounders, I decided to do the write up now. You can see how every pick played out by going http://www.mockone.net.

My mock did get messed up (with an autopick of Burfict) due to the 8am Eastern start time each day (5am for me), so I will show you the actual draft, and I will also show how it would have played out had I not missed my 3rd round pick. I pretty much went solely BPA in this mock draft and didn't have any trades. There were a couple offers for trades at 17 and 21, but they just weren't willing to offer up enough.

So, hit the jump...

Before I start, I want to point out that DeCastro went at #11 and Gilmore went at #12, so they were out of the equation at that point.

Round 1, pick 17(#17) - Luke Kuechly, ILB, Boston College
Round 1, pick 21(#21) - Kendall Wright, WR, Baylor
Round 2, pick 21(#53) - Doug Martin, RB, Boise State
Round 3, pick 21(#84) - Vontaze Burfict, ILB, Arizona State (Auto pick - I blamed the pick on Mike Brown)
Round 4, pick 21(#116) - Brandon Washington, OG, Miami(FL)
Round 5, pick 21(#148) - Asa Jackson, CB/KR, Cal Poly
Round 5, pick 31(#158) - Winston Guy, S, Kentucky
Round 6, pick 21(#180) - Jack Crawford, DE, Penn St.

At pick #84 in the 3rd round, my target was actually Cam Johnson, DE out of Virginia. And he was still on the board; he wasn't taken until the 26th pick of the 3rd round. Had I got Cam Johnson, I would not have targeted Jack Crawford in the 6th (who, and I didn't find this out until after I picked, just had drug paraphernalia and marijuana found in his dorm room by campus police)

At pick #158, I was actually targeting DT/NT Nick Jean-Baptiste out of Baylor, but for some reason he wasn't included in the prospect list on #MockTwo. I assume he was just missed when they put it together. I wasn't planning on picking Guy until the 6th round pick, if he was still available.

I mention targeting these players, but to elaborate, I didn't go into the draft targeting any specific players. As I mentioned above, I went BPA with targets in mind if they happened to still be there when I picked.

So, had my draft not gotten curtailed with Burfict in the 3rd, it would look like this:

#17 - L. Kuechly, ILB
#21 - K. Wright, WR
#53 - D. Martin, RB
#84 - C. Johnson, DE
#116 - B. Washington, OG
#148 - A. Jackson, CB/KR
#158 - N. Jean-Baptiste, DT/NT
#180 - W. Guy, S

If he Bengals come away with something like this after the draft, I won't complain. It hits almost all the needs, whether it be a starter or depth. I think this is the sort of draft they are working towards with all the signings that have occurred during the offseason, a BPA draft. I know that OG and CB were taken way later than people would like, including me IF it weren't a reach at where they are picked just to get those players early.

I know some will like it and some won't, but go ahead and discuss.
