Kuechley vs. Urlacher

Stay connected for news and updates

I've seen multiple comments comparing Luke Kuechley to several other NFL linebackers (Dhani, Rivers, etc.) but the one LB comparison I imediately thought of after watching him play was Brian Urlacher.

They were both high school DB's that were converted to LB's in college. They both are very INSTINCTIVE players who are sure tacklers and have good coverage skills. Neither played for what you would call a real football power house in college (Kuechley - Boston College ; Urlacher - University of New Mexico) and both were combine standouts.

Here's is there phyical comparisons and combine results.

Brian Urlacher - Size 6'4 258

Luke Kuechley - Size 6'3; 242 (with ability to add 8-10 LBS)

Brian Urlacher - 40 time - 4.58

Luke Kuechley - 40 time - 4.50

Brian Urlacher - Bench 27 Reps

Luke Kuechley - Bench 27 Reps

Brian Urlacher - Verticle 34 inches

Luke Kuechley - Verticle 38 inches

Brian Urlacher - Broad Jump 122 Inches

Luke Kuechley - Broad Jump 123 inches

I'm NOT saying Luke Kuechley will ever be even half the player that Brian Urlacher has been in his NFL carreer. I just thought it was interresting to see how similiar there measurables are when lined up next to one another.
