ESPN is reporting while the Eagles may not be aggressively pursuing a trade for Samuel, it is likely he could be had for a 4th this year or a conditional 3rd next year (condition: pro bowl). I like Stephon Gilmore more than just about anybody but I'd be all for this and a Newman signing. By mid season Leon and Asante would be slam dunk starters with Clements, Newman, and Reggie in the back, Allen, Jones, Ghee, Sands, and Mays all as nickel-dimers and solid backups.
Maybe I'm looking for a few too many reasons to encourage us to move up for Floyd or DeCastro or Kuechly.
Imagining this draft grade in my head:
Trading up for DeCastro/Kuechly, trading back at #21 to make up for the traded picks, maybe getting a Stephen Hill type #2 and another pick, trading our 3rd for J Stewart, our 4th for Asante Samuel, and filling in the gaps with a 2nd/3rd rounder we pick up in trade (Zeitler or David maybe), and our own 5th/6th/7th rounders.
