The Steelers off-season keeps getting worse, as Mike Wallace "has no plans to sign his tender". Between this and the report that he wants to be paid like Larry Fitzgerald, it seems like he is developing a clear case of WRDS (Wide Receiver Diva Syndrome).
In actuality, I have no idea what to make of this. He could be scaring other teams off to give Pittsburgh a home team discount so he can stay with the Steelers, but he wants to make sure they hammer out an offer. In all honesty, I highly doubt that's the case. I don't know very much about him personally, but it seems that he's starting to show his true colors. The hold-out game never ends well for players or teams, and whenever I see someone going down that road it makes me laugh.
This could be just a public game of chicken that gets taken care of with little more fanfare, or it could become a full blown hold-out. While it shouldn't cause too much of a distraction, his first public announcement about it comes a couple weeks before the draft, and that has to at least put some worry in their front office at the most important time of the year to have your head on stright. When you add on top of that the fact that the Steelers are right up against their cap it looks like Wallace is really sticking it to the team. The Steelers may have to start considering lowering that tender they have on him, as they typically don't deal with headaches.
I think he walks next year for nothing, and they might want to get something back from him before his final year under contract turns from good news to bad. But if he's really after Fitzgerald money, good luck getting rid of him no matter how low the draft pick.
