Who is the Bengals all-time best 3rd round pick?

Congratulations to Boomer Esiason, who has a pretty big lead in the voting for best 2nd round pick every by the Bengals.

I think this is going to be a race between a few horses, but to give more guys a chance, I’ve listed the top 7 to pick from. Anyway, the 3rd round....

Ken Anderson QB 1971 third round, overall #67 selection

1 First Team All Pro

4 Pro Bowls

13 Years Starting

The last time QB's were drafted 1, 2, 3 in the NFL draft was in 1971 with J Plunkett, A Manning, D Pastorini. Ken Anderson was the 6th QB taken in that 1971 draft and finished with more yards, more TD's and less INT's than those QB's taken 1, 2, 3.

For his career, he compiled 2,654 for 4,475 ... 59% ... 32,838 yd ... 197 td ...160 int

He led the league in more QB stat categories than Boomer ever did - Twice led the league in yards, 3 times lead the league in comp %, twice led the league in completions, and 4 times led the league in QB rating.

Topped 3,000 yards and 20 TD's twice in his career.

David Fulcher DB 1986 third round, overall #78

1 First Team All Pro

3 Pro Bowls

7 Years Starting

Is the definition of a strong safety in Bengaldom which all others Bengal's safeties are measured against. Was a hard hitter with 31 career INT's in his career.

.

Mike Goff OG 1998 third round, overall #78

0 First Team All Pro

0 Pro Bowls

9 Years Starting

His "career average" rating of 50 is the second highest for a Bengals' drafted OG. Helped block for Corey Dillon to become one of the most prolific Bengal rushers ever.

.

Rodney Holman TE 1982 third round, overall #82

0 First Team All Pro

3 Pro Bowls

9 Years Starting

He totaled 365 receptions for 4,771 yards and 36 TD's in the era when TE's were blockers first, blockers second, and receivers third. Was a great blocker and is one of the 2 top TE's that the Bengals have ever had.

.

Dave Lapam OG 1974 third round, overall #61

0 First Team All Pro

0 Pro Bowls

8 Years Starting

Honestly, I placed him here because he is one of the radio announcers. ‘Lap' was a solid performer who played in 140 games over his career. He is probably the most recognizable name of this list to the very casual fan and/or very young fan simply because of his media time on the radio.

.

Jim LeClair LB 1972 third round, overall #54

0 First Team All Pro

1 Pro Bowls

9 Years Starting

One of only 3 Bengals' drafted LB's to ever make a Pro-Bowl (Bill Bergey & Takeo Spikes)

.

Reggie Williams LB 1976 third round, overall #82

0 First Team All Pro

0 Pro Bowls

14 Years Starting

The linebacker finished with 41 career sacks, which is impressive when you figure that sacks were not even counted as a stat for the first half of his career. His "career average" rating of 76 (from pro football reference) is the second highest for a Bengals' LB ever (only behind Bill Bergey). His rating of 76 is one of the highest of any player from the 1976 draft.
