After a very successful 1st round we are poised to get 3 more stud impact players. Let me first say before you read my philosophy consider what the Patriots are doing. They grabbed 2 immediate impact players and are going to do the same in 2nd round by trading all their other lower picks to be able to obtain almost "for sure" impact players instead of taking risks and development guys later. This finally brings me to my point.
- In the 2nd round we use grab Courtney Upshaw (due to Marvin's crush on him and his ability to make an immediate impact) or Zach Brown (this linebacker from North Carolina is an absolute freak and would finally give us a dynamic leader in the middle that can change a game with a huge sack, interception, tackle for loss, or forced fumble). Yes, one of these guys falling to us might be hard to imagine but we have the ammo to move up. So if one does not fall we package our 2nd, 4th, and 6th to grab them.
- In the late 2nd and early 3rd we move up to the top of the round and grab our compliment to A.J. The mock drafts from http://www.walterfootball.com/ have Mohamed Sanu, Marvin McNutt, Marvin Jones, and several others falling here. We simply target the best available by packaging all 5th round picks along with our latest 3rd round pick acquired from the Patriots. This finally gives us a weapon across A.J. and deep threat depth, if God forbid A.J. or Armon Binns (assuming he plays) get hurt.
- Finally, with our only pick left we grab a home-run threat. Either LeMichael James or Isaiah Pead are projected to fall to us and we grab either or. This gives us an upgrade over Benard Scott and great compliment to the Law Firm.
This gives us 5 immediate players of impact and most importantly guys that can play right away. Love to hear other opinions and feedback. I honestly think this helps us out the most and gives us the best shot of getting players that can for sure help.
