The Cincinnati Bengals concluded their three-day rookie minicamp at high-noon on Sunday. Here's a quick highlight of all the stories we ran over the weekend.
Rookie cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick is very good as a physical cornerback in man coverage. However he's learning how to play off the receiver in zone, something that he got burnt on during Friday's sessions. After practice was over, he took to the films and showed vast improvement on Saturday. That being said he intends to start this year.
Three players that the Bengals drafted this year signed deals over the weekend; defensive tackle Devon Still, tight end Orson Charles and wide receiver Marvin Jones. Five of the team's ten rookies are currently under contract.
Wide receiver Mohamed Sanu entered this weekend's rookie minicamp knowing that he has to earn his stripes. He completed the weekend with head coach Marvin Lewis saying that he's capable of playing right away, even pushing for a starting job. That being said Lewis is very optimistic about this year's crop of young receivers vying for a spot on the roster.
Discussions about Armon Binns becoming the No. 2 won't go away because Binns won't let it.
We had a handful of stories on undrafted free agent linebacker Vontaze Burfict. Head coach Marvin Lewis talked about acquiring the linebacker, emphasizing how far the rookie has to go before making the squad. Burfict is looking for a fresh start and that road will go through special teams.
Rookie tight end Orson Charles, after comparing himself to Ben Watson, doesn't want to be compared to the New England tight end duo. Instead he wants himself and Jermaine Gresham to be something completely new.
Four undrafted free agents were sent to the gallows on Friday, before the first session of this year's rookie minicamp. Cornerback Derrius Brooks, defensive end Julian Miller and offensive linemen Mike Ryan and Landon Walker were released for failing their physicals.
Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis mentioned two tryout players by name on Sunday when asked who impressed him the most; Kansas State linebacker Emmanuel Lamur and Morgan State fullback Jourdan Brooks. It wasn't the only time Lewis reference Lamur either. He did the same thing in between sessions on Saturday.
Few people believe that tryout quarterback Tony Pike will be signed to a contract -- mostly because the confidence he lacks in his surgically repaired elbow.
Rookie Marvin Jones attempted to field punts. And struggled. Still Lewis pointed out that Jones had a "great" weekend.
 Breaking down Shaun Prater's contract.
Marvin Lewis reflects on rookie running back Dan "Boom" Herron.
The Bengals head coach reflects that the players the team drafted are "well-coached" players.
