Reports surfacing that Cincinnati Bengals cornerback and first-round pick Dre Kirkpatrick suffered a knee injury prior to training camp.
Jason La Canfora of CBSSports (formerly of the NFL Network) has inside knowledge on a bad situation with the Cincinnati Bengals' first round pick, Dre Kirkpatrick. According to La Canfora, Kirkpatrick has told his teammates that he has suffered a knee injury that is going to force him to miss significant time.
La Canfora followed that tweet up with another that said that the team hasn't commented or released any information or news regarding an injury. We'll know more as Training Camp opens, as that's likely where an official statement from the team will be made, if this is indeed true.
We are hearing rumblings of a "broken leg", but nothing is official yet and we are still searching for news. If this is accurate by La Canfora, it's a big blow to the Bengals on two fronts. First, the team has drafted very well since 2010 and this injury could greatly tarnish that streak. More importantly, the Bengals are in need of a lot of young, athletic talent at cornerback, even if Kirkpatrick wasn't slated to start. We'll be sure to update you as more develops.
