There has been campaigning for J. Stewart, talk about the possibility of guys like Steve Slaton and Kendal Hunter becoming available, and even discussion about grabbing supplemental draft prospect Ed Wessley. Besides the obvious questions in the secondary and #2 WR it seems that the most are comfortable with the quality of depth there. However, at RB even with BJGE, Scott, Leonard, Boom, Peerman (and Brown, who hasn't been mentioned much), it seems there are still questions about the position.
I understand the campaign for J. Stewart and would absolutely love to have him, but let's be serious...it ain't happening. Slaton isn't an upgrade. And a supplemental draft pick won't be made. A previous article was written where there were some mixed reviews about Kendal Hunter. I think he would be the perfect addition. BJGE, Hunter, Scott, and Leonard with Boom on the practice squad (I like Boom and think he could be a contributor) I think sounds pretty awesome. I feel ok about the position now, but the addition of Hunter would make me feel great. Still, even though the Niners have a crowded backfield, Hunter will likely still find a roster spot.
So any other potentials out there? Or are we good with what we've got? Of the guys on the current roster none are proven starters (BJGE being close, but never really assumed a role as a starter). And of the RBs, only B. Scott really has the explosiveness to break a big play. Or is success of the RBs going to be determined more by the strength of the O-Line rather than talent of the RB?
