Carlos Dunlap Doubtful With A Knee Injury; Bengals Force 11-Play Jets Possession Into A Punt

Stay connected for news and updates

Travelle Wharton went down with a knee injury, carted off the field and not expected to return. Several plays later, middle linebacker Rey Maualuga took a helmet to the knee and was helped off the field with two trainers giving Maualuga support.

With 10:31 remaining in the first quarter, after the Bengals were called for an offsides which negated a punt and giving the Jets another first down, Bengals defensive end Carlos Dunlap was wrapped on the field in obvious pain around his right knee. It took nearly five minutes for Dunlap to get up, though walking under his own power.

With less than five minutes played in the first preseason game of the year, the Bengals have already seen injuries to three starting players. Maualuga and Dunlap are both doubtful with right knee injuries.

The Bengals finally stalled the Jets 11-play drive, forcing a punt thanks to a seven-yard quarterback sack by middle linebacker Roddrick Muckelroy on second down.
