The past 24 hours have been rough for Chad Johnson. After his wife allegedly found a receipt for condoms in the back of his trunk. At some point an argument ensued, eventually leading to Johnson's arrest and subsequent misdemeanor domestic abuse charge. It gets worse for Johnson. According to Jay Glazer with Fox Sports, the Miami Dolphins have released him.
Johnson was released from jail Sunday morning after posting $2,500.
According to Armando Salguero with the Miami Herald, the decision to release Johnson was made by head coach Joe Philbin, with the unconditional support from ownership.
Now according to the police report, the couple arrived at home after shopping when his wife, Evelyn Lozada, began bringing purchased items into the house. In the trunk she noticed a Wal-Greens receipt showing the purchase for a box of condoms. The pair sat in the car and discussed the receipt, as well as their marriage. An argument intensified and he allegedly grabbed and head-butted her, creating a huge laceration.
From the police report, Johnson began screaming, "I don't give a fuck! I don't give a fuck about my career!". She apparently fled to a neighbor's home to call police when Johnson began driving around the neighborhood looking for her.
However Johnson claims it was his wife that head-butted him, electing to drive around the neighborhood to to "give her time to calm down."
