With 7:13 remaining in the first quarter, Andy Dalton and the Bengals offense lined up from their own 16-yard line on third-and-six. Jermaine Gresham, outside Andrew Whitworth on the left, fired out of his stance snapping to the outside after a five-yard sprint upfield. Dalton hit Gresham in stride, who subsequently shed two tackles, but struggled to break away from an ankle tackle.
At some point during the play, Gresham hurt his knee, showing obvious discomfort as he jogged to the sidelines. The Bengals announced that Gresham is out for the rest of the evening with a knee injury. However the radio and television broadcast both observed Gresham mouthing to Micah Johnson that he's fine.
