Last week, we brought back the weekly feature of our "Unsung Hero of the Week Award". In the return of this award, the first one went to Bengals wide receiver, Marvin Jones, for his performance against the Jets. The Bengals gained their second preseason victory in as many games and there were a group of players who contributed to the win.

This weekly prestigious award is given out to a Bengals player whose contributions are overlooked, usually by our weekly MVP winner. Their contributions can include making some major plays to assist the team, playing mistake-free football, and/or stepping up in the wake of an injury to another player. There were examples of these from Bengals players on Thursday night versus the Falcons.

Offensively, Marvin Jones shined with another big reception. He followed up his big play from last week against the Jets, with another against the Falcons. His 42-yard reception proved that he is making a strong push to not only make the roster, but also to make an impact on the 2012 season. Fellow rookie receiver, Mohamed Sanu, finally made his stamp on the preseason with a nice twelve-yard touchdown from Bruce Gradkowski in the third quarter helped cement the team's victory.

On defense, Jeromy Miles had six tackles and an interception while the Falcons were driving to score. He also added a forced fumble to complete his impressive evening. Roddrick Muckelroy stepped into the starting lineup for Rey Maualuga to lead the team in tackles. However, due to the team's lackluster defensive performance against the pass, it was difficult to give the nod to one of these two.

We eventually decided to give the award to tight end Donald Lee. He stepped in admirably for starter Jermaine Gresham when he went down with an injury and proved once again to be a valuable backup player for the team. He led the offense with four catches for 34 yards. Having Lee in the tight end group helps to prove that the team is very deep at the position.
