+ We updated the important NFL dates that provide a basic preview of deadlines throughout the season. Read it. Bookmark it. It was released directly from the NFL, so it's accurate. We'll likely refer to it throughout the season as important dates approach. Now that my role as teacher, provider, parent and mentor to everyone that reads these pages is complete, time to roll on with the morning banter (we're thinking of changing the name so email me suggestions).

+ Bengals safety Taylor Mays believes that he's made significant progress, but believes there's more progress to be made.

Some in the comments are tiring of our remarks that he's hurting his own teammates. Fine. But until he actually doesn't (not really) concus a player or handout a knee sprain because he's launching like a missile into players, we'll keep saying it. Personally I believe it's an issue. Those are the type of hits that could result in a personal foul. They're also uncontrolled, which means a juke to the left or right and Mays becomes a slow-motion safety floating in midair watching the ball carrier run past him without a thing about it. For god sake, he's nearly wiped out the middle linebackers depth chart. Don't get me wrong. His aggressiveness is kind of awesome and there will be moments where he'll hit someone that cause hurricane force winds at Paul Brown Stadium. So here's my personal assurance to you. I won't refer to him wiping out the middle linebackers depth chart until it happens again. See. Common ground.

+ Joe Goodberry decided to risk his life by writing a posting on Andy Dalton's arm strength. His views in no way represent the views and opinions of the Cincy Jungle editoral staff. Just kidding.

+ Former Cincinnati Bengals guard Eric Steinbach is retiring, according to the Miami Dolphins.

+ Madden 13 features no Bengals in the top-ten defensive players.

+ Anthony reviews the position battle at strong safety (guess what...)
