The Bengals are a bit banged up at the moment, but appear to be getting many of the walking wounded on the mend. It seems that caution is the name of the game and that most of these players are eyeing the first regular season game against the Ravens on Monday Night Football is the goal.
Kevin Kelly of the Cincinnati tweeted his injury observations at Monday's practice. There seemed to be the usual suspects on the list, as well as a couple of surprises.
While the statuses of Carlos Dunlap, Jermaine Gresham, and Pat Sims were expected, hearing players like Mohamed Sanu, Kyle Cook, and Emmanuel Lamur are a bit of a surprise. They weren't noted as being out in our report yesterday, so we are wondering what's going on in those respective situations. We wish that we could say that Jason Allen's limited participation was a surprise, but given his up and down status this offseason (mostly down), nothing is catching us off guard about him.
It's likely that some or most of the players that aren't practicing are more of an effort to get them rest--particularly first round pick, Dre Kirkpatrick. We will know more as practice continues throughout the day.
