Some guys just can't catch a break. You could lump Bengals cornerback Brandon Ghee into that category. He had been battling injuries in his first two years and finally got his chance to shine in this camp because of injuries (and rest) to others in the position group. Then, just a few days later, Ghee suffered a hand injury in practice. We didn't know much about it then, but we know a little more now.
According to head coach Marvin Lewis (via Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com) Ghee has a severe "owey" in the hand and could miss the entire preseason and maybe the season opener.
Lewis indicated that (Bernard) Scott would be available for the Sept. 10 regular-season opener in Baltimore but he didn't know when he could return to the preseason. Ghee seems to have suffered an even bigger "owey," because Lewis wouldn't say if he could be back for the opener.
This could really hurt Ghee's chances at making the roster this year. There are a multitude of options with what to do with him, but Ghee is running out of both time and chances. The one thing he does have on his side is that he's a few years younger than most of the cornerback corps. We'll let you know when we hear more on the injury.
