It's been a roller coaster of an offseason for Bengals kicker Mike Nugent. He was first bittersweetly designated as the team's franchise player which led to a minor contract dispute. He held himself out of a portion of the OTAs but then returned at the latter sessions. Then, when Training Camp began, Nugent was placed on the PUP List with a hamstring injury, but was later taken off and practicing in a limited fashion.
Now, he's a full-go, according to Geoff Hobson.
Really, the only way that Nugent will lose out on his job this season is if he gets severely injured. It appears that the PUP List placement and slow-go of it in practice was merely a precautionary measure because of the type of injury he had. Hamstrings tend to be nagging, so Nugent and the team was playing it smart. Regardless, he's back on the field and fully participating.
